Bosch has secured a \u201cmajor\u201d order from Mercedes-Benz to supply a \u201clarge volume” of electric motors for the automaker\u2019s next-generation electric powertrains into the 2030s.<\/p>\n
Bosch board of management member and Bosch Mobility chairman Markus Heyn said: \u201cThe new order reaffirms our long-standing partnership with Mercedes-Benz and shows that we can successfully contribute our expertise to technologically demanding projects as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
The German major did not disclose the value of the contract.<\/p>\n
The company said the win follows a strong 2025, during which it booked more than 70 customer projects worldwide.<\/p>\n
According to Bosch, the electric motors offer efficiency of up to 98% and higher power density, supported by new winding technology and rotor oil cooling to improve heat dissipation.<\/p>\n
The motors are also built on a scalable platform architecture, allowing the motor length to be adjusted based on power needs and enabling integration across different axle variants and vehicle models.<\/p>\n
Bosch said the combination of efficiency, cooling, winding technology and scalable design helps reduce weight, installation space and overall system costs for customers.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe win over customers with our core competence of being able to develop and manufacture complex technology in large quantities with significant economies of scale worldwide. We deliver electric-driving solutions to all markets around the world,\u201d added Heyn.<\/p>\n
The supplier plans to manufacture more than seven million electric-drive components in 2026 and said about seven electric motors currently leave its production lines every minute worldwide.<\/p>\n
Bosch is also expanding its EV footprint in other markets, including through a joint venture with TataAutocomp Systems in India to develop and produce e-axles, and through partnerships in China.<\/p>\n
Bosch Electrified Motion division president Marco Zehe said: \u201cWe already work with almost all Chinese car manufacturers, as well as with numerous international automakers operating in China.\u201d<\/p>\n
Last month, Bosch Limited, the group\u2019s flagship company in India, said it plans to acquire<\/a> 100% of Bosch Chassis Systems India for up to Rs90.68bn ($978m).<\/p>\n Bosch Chassis Systems India represents the German group\u2019s Vehicle Motion division in the country.<\/p>\n Its portfolio includes active safety technologies such as antilock braking systems and electronic stability control, along with passive safety components including airbag electronic control units and sensors.<\/p>\n
