This marks the first time the M2 is being offered with AWD, expanding its appeal to buyers seeking enhanced traction and all-weather usability without moving away from its performance-focused character.

M xDrive AWD: Performance Meets Versatility

The newly introduced M xDrive system is rear-wheel-drive biased, sending power to the front axle only when additional traction is required. This setup is designed to preserve the classic rear-driven dynamics associated with BMW’s M models while offering improved stability in challenging conditions.

Also Read: Delhi-NCR Old Trucks, Buses To Be Phased Out Under Rs 5,041 Crore Plan

Drivers can customise the system’s behaviour through the M Setup menu on the infotainment system. It also allows the stability control to be fully disengaged and enables a dedicated 2WD mode, which directs power exclusively to the rear wheels. Notably, the AWD configuration is available only with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Also Read: Citroen eC3 X Teased Ahead Of Launch In India

Improved Acceleration, Same Powertrain

Under the hood, the 2026 BMW M2 continues with the familiar 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine producing 480 hp and 600 Nm of torque. However, the addition of xDrive results in a quicker 0-100 km/h sprint time of 3.7 seconds, making it 0.3 seconds faster than the rear-wheel-drive version. Top speed remains electronically limited to 250 kmph, which can be increased to 285 kmph with the optional M Driver’s Package.

New M Ignition Technology

A notable technical update is the introduction of BMW’s patented M Ignition system. This technology incorporates a small pre-combustion chamber above the main cylinder. Under higher loads, an initial ignition occurs in this chamber, which then enhances combustion efficiency in the main cylinder.

The result is improved fuel efficiency during demanding driving conditions, with BMW also suggesting that this system supports longer track sessions by optimising engine performance under sustained loads.

Design and Interior Remain Familiar

Visually, the M2 with M xDrive remains unchanged from the standard model. It retains its signature proportions, including a long bonnet, short rear overhang, and a wide, muscular stance. The coupe rides on 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, with flared arches and pronounced rear haunches adding to its aggressive look. A new Borusan Turkish Blue paint option has also been introduced.

Inside, the cabin features a dual-screen layout for the instrument cluster and infotainment system, along with M-specific graphics. Other highlights include a flat-bottom M steering wheel, M tricolour accents on the door panels, and optional lightweight carbon bucket seats, reinforcing the car’s performance-oriented focus.

BMW has unveiled the updated 2026 M2 sports coupe, introducing a key mechanical upgrade in the form of…

[20955
29005,29006,29009,29010,29008,29007,6213,26723
post-29815","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-bmw","tag-2026-bmw-m2","tag-2026-bmw-m2-awd","tag-2026-bmw-m2-engine","tag-2026-bmw-m2-features","tag-2026-bmw-m2-specs","tag-2026-bmw-m2-xdrive-awd","tag-bmw","tag-bmw-m2
["GET
