BERLIN, March 18 (Reuters) – Germany’s BASF (BASFn.DE), opens new tab<\/a> is raising prices at its home care, industrial \u200band institutional cleaning as well as \u200cindustrial formulators businesses in Europe by up to 30% due to higher costs for \u200braw materials, energy and logistics, \u200bit said.<\/p>\n

For selected products the price hikes \u2060will be more than 30%, \u200bthe chemicals group said in a statement \u200bon Wednesday.<\/p>\n

“The move primarily comes in response to significant volatility in the pricing and availability \u200bof key raw materials, increasing domestic \u200band transcontinental logistics costs, and soaring packaging and \u200cenergy \u2060costs,” it said.<\/p>\n

The markups take immediate effect or as soon as contracts permit.<\/p>\n

Last week, Germany’s VCI chemical industry lobby warned<\/a> \u200bthat serious \u200bdisruption \u2060could arise from the war in Iran and closure of \u200bthe Hormuz strait, piling further \u200bpressure \u2060on the sector.Last month, BASF said it would step up cost-saving<\/a> efforts and said \u2060that \u200bthis year’s operating income \u200bcould slip or rise only slightly in difficult \u200bmarkets.<\/p>\n
