One of the most amazing sports sedans I have ever driven was the 2021 BMW M5 Competition<\/a>. In my review I raved about the mind-boggling levels of performance in a sedan weighing in at 4,243 pounds. It was not only the best sports sedan but also one of the most staggering performance cars of any type that I had driven up to that time. Then, in 2022, BMW decided to go even more bonkers with the car that is our\u00a0Pick of the Day<\/a>, a 2022 BMW M5 CS<\/a> listed on\u00a0ClassicCars.com<\/a>\u00a0by a dealer in Kentwood, Michigan.<\/p>\n

The M5 CS takes the idea of the M5 Comp and raises the volume to 11. Not content with the performance of the M5 Comp, Munich decided to shed more weight (147 pounds) and increase the power of the twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 from a stated 617 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 553 lb-ft of torque at 1800 rpm (figures that were, by BMW\u2019s own admission,seriously understated) to a \u201cstated\u201d 627 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque (yes, they are still sandbagging with those numbers). The M5 Comp I tested accelerated from 0-60 in 2.8 seconds, while the CS accomplishes this same sprint in 2.6 seconds \u2014 faster than almost any ICE-powered supercar, let alone other gasoline-fueled sports sedans. Combine that with a car that pulls 1.02 g on the skid pad, and you get the idea of why I disbelieve the power numbers. In my opinion, this makes the 2022 BMW M5 CS the absolute pinnace of the M5 concept and, considering only about 1,000 were produced, a serious future collector car.<\/p>\n

The seller describes this example as having covered a total of 32,120 miles from new, low enough for a collector car but high enough for it to still be healthy mechanically in every way. It is finished in Frozen Dark Green Metallic paint and stunning-looking contrasting bronze wheels \u2014 a great choice, considering the only other wheel color option was black. The entire exterior looks to be in perfect condition with no issues whatsoever.<\/p>\n

The interior, unique to the CS, is finished in black leather with red accents and red stitching, with BMW carbon-fiber Sports bucket seats in both the front and rear. Every aspect of the interior appears to be in immaculate shape.<\/p>\n

Under the hood, everything is as spotless as the rest of the car, with everything appearing as pristine as it did in 2022 when this M5 was new. There are zero modifications; all looks exactly as it should.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

In my book, any 2022 M5 CS in a great condition like this is already a collector car in its own right. According to the original window sticker, this example sold for $149,620, and the model sold out almost immediately. The asking price for this car is $149,900. If you are looking for the highest-performance gas-powered BMW M5 the company is ever likely to build, I would jump on this one fast.<\/p>\n
