<\/p>\nSiemens Mobility has unveiled the latest generation of its digitalised locomotives for both freight and passenger transport \u2013 Vectron X.<\/p>\n
Revealed to customers and media at its newly opened Rail Service Centre in Munich-Allah; the new locomotive is based on the Vectron platform, which has now sold 3,000 units to date.<\/p>\n

Vectron X aims to combine technology used in previous iterations with new app-based functionalities, open interfaces for third-party providers, and a central Smart Screen in the cab, allowing it to continuously evolve via the receipt of regular updates that adapt the unit to different operational needs.<\/p>\n
Siemens has stated that data-driven applications, targeted maintenance, and app-based features will help to optimise operating costs and improve how efficiently each vehicle is deployed.<\/p>\n
Vectron X utilised software-based architecture, and is part of Siemens Xcelerator \u2013 Siemens\u2019 open digital business platform connecting olling stock, operations, services, and infrastructure, allowing for the integration of partner solutions via standardised interfaces.<\/p>\n

Together with our expanding service offering and the new Rail Service Center in Munich-Allach, we are creating a fully digitalized end-to-end portfolio that seamlessly connects operations and maintenance and enables highly efficient deployment of our locomotives in both freight and passenger transport.<\/p>\n
The Vectron X\u2019s driver\u2019s cab utilises a digital operating concept, which aims to complement the previously established Vectron driver\u2019s cab and features a central 11.6-inch Smart Screen which consolidates all key applications and information directly into the cockpit \u2013 ranging from operational data and route information to third-party applications available via an App Store.<\/p>\n
Selected customer- and operator-specific applications already in use for mission planning, operational coordination, or customer-specific information can be displayed directly on the Smart Screen or mirrored via TrainPlay.<\/p>\n
The Vecton\u2019s X\u2019s Remote Start ability allows the locomotive to be activated from a distance, and it is capable of transmitting operational data in near real-time, as well as connect to digital systems \u2013 allowing for the earlier detection of irregularities, more targeted maintenance measures, and a potential reduction in unplanned failures.<\/p>\n
Alongside the launch of the new Vectron X; Siemens Mobility has also opened its newly modernised Rail Service Centre in Munich-Allach \u2013 which now boasts triple its initial capacity and is capable of handling up to 80 overhauls and accident repairs per year.<\/p>\n

The new Rail Service Center Munich-Allach is our competence centre for the maintenance of Vectron locomotives \u2013 from overhauls to accident repairs \u2013 and another important milestone in expanding our European service network.<\/p>\n
With significantly increased capacity and fully digitalised workshop processes, we are creating the basis for faster and more predictable workshop visits.<\/p>\n
