It previews what BMW’s high-performance M division might be able to do with the brand’s future design language.

As is typically the case with concept cars, performance details are mostly vague. Dubbed M eDrive, this conceptual powertrain uses four electric motors synergized through a central control software given an equally on-brand name, M Dynamic Performance Control. It’s an 800-volt architecture and uses a battery said to contain at least 100 kWhs of energy, the housing of which doubles as a structural support for both axles.

Neue Klasse styling has been hit or miss in the few premieres BMW has made so far, including the 2027 i3 and 2026 iX3, and while judgement of the M Concept’s execution is subjective in nature, it is objectively more aggressive and befitting of a performance sedan, as is its new Monza Red paint. That metallic finish provides a vibrant highlight to contrast against the dark grille and duct work, LED elements adding splashes of red, white and amber lighting. These yellow lights are a reference to BMW’s GT cars, and are said to become a staple of future M models. Down low are new “Track Lights” in the front and rear aprons, giving more depth to these aerodynamic components.

Also new are the four bucket seats mounted inside, upholstered in Bathurst Blue and Berry Red, joined by red five-point belts; and black nubuck leather sees its first M appointment, felt on the steering wheel, door panels and roll bar. The dash is finished in a black knit material, backlit by M-specific hexagons. Various red accents dot the interior, including those on the gear selector and the paddle shifters, the latter likely control regenerative braking, as seen on many other EVs. And as you’d expect, a lot of the interfacing is done through digital means, a large display mounted front and center.

Don’t hold your breath for the M Concept Neue Klasse to enter production anytime soon; certainly not in this exact form, as five-point harnesses and roll bars, cool as they may be, aren’t typically consumer spec. But you can anticipate future M cars to adopt this contemporary design language in the coming years.

As endurance racers and motorsports fans gear up for this weekend’s annual running of the 24 Hours of…

[20955
6213,27121,2989,16783,32488,32359,32489,1590,32490,21647
post-35516","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-bmw","tag-bmw","tag-concept-car","tag-electric-car","tag-ev","tag-m","tag-m-concept-neue-klasse","tag-new-class","tag-performance","tag-saloon","tag-sedan
["GET
