Carbon fibre has long been the go-to material for shaving weight and adding strength. Yet, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesupercarblog.com\/bmw-m-concept-neue-klasse-previews-the-next-gen-m3-but-its-all-electric\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">BMW M Concept Neue Klasse<\/a> is not using it. Why?<\/p>\n<p>Instead of traditional carbon fibre, BMW M is experimenting with natural-fibre composites. These are used across key areas of the concept, including the front splitter, roof, rear diffuser, and even interior seat structures. Visually, they carry a unique woven finish, but the real story lies beneath the surface.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-47028\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/BMW-M-Concept-Neue-Klasse-1.jpg\" alt=\"BMW-M-Concept-Neue-Klasse-1.jpg\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\"\/><\/p>\n<p>According to BMW M, these materials deliver similar strength and stiffness to carbon fibre while cutting production emissions by around 40%. That\u2019s a massive gain, especially as car makers are trying to balance performance and sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t a one-off experiment either. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesupercarblog.com\/2027-bmw-m5-m5-touring-test-mules-spotted-near-nurburgring-together\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">BMW<\/a> has been developing these flax-based composites for years, first testing them in Formula E before introducing them in the M4 GT4 race car. Now, they\u2019re heading for production. The upcoming electric M3 is expected to feature this technology as standard.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-47030\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/1781369775_185_BMW-M-Concept-Neue-Klasse-3.jpg\" alt=\"BMW M Concept Neue Klasse-3\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\"\/><\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s still room for personalisation, though. BMW can tweak the weave patterns, and even signature M styling elements like roof accents could carry over.<\/p>\n<p>This means that future BMW M models or performance cars would also feature this tech.
