Defense Germany a contract to supply more than 1,000 JIM Compact multifunction infrared binoculars to the German Armed Forces.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Based on a 2024 framework <a href=\"https:\/\/www.safran-group.com\/pressroom\/safran-selected-german-bundeswehr-supply-infrared-multifunction-binoculars-2025-01-20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">agreement<\/a> between the company and Germany\u2019s arms procurement agency, the contract is the largest ever awarded by Germany to Safran Electronics &amp; Defense Germany.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It will enhance the German infantry\u2019s ability to detect, identify, and locate targets in all weather and light conditions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The deal comes days after the company <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2026\/06\/10\/germany-defense-production-safran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">announced a 50-million-euro ($57.7-million) investment <\/a>to expand its manufacturing footprint in Germany.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWith this major order, we are further deepening our partnership with the Bundeswehr through the JIM Compact, by not only delivering a solution but by also expanding local maintenance support,\u201d CEO of Safran Electronics &amp; Defense Germany, Marzell Schiller, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.safran-group.com\/pressroom\/safran-secures-largest-ever-jim-compact-order-bundeswehr-2026-06-11\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe JIM Compact is a key building block of the augmented soldier, providing dismounted troops with enhanced observation, targeting, and situational awareness capabilities and helping to close the capability gap.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>JIM Compact Binoculars\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The JIM Compact is a lightweight multifunction infrared binocular system for surveillance, target detection, and geolocation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Weighing less than 2 kilograms (4.41 pounds), it combines thermal and low-light imaging with an integrated laser rangefinder capable of measuring targets at ranges of up to 12 kilometers (7.45 miles).<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The system features See-Spot target detection, image fusion, real-time photo and video recording and streaming, and applications for long-range fires, close air support, and artillery missions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the manufacturer, it can also operate in Global Navigation Satellite System-denied environments, offers up to six hours of battery life, and is built to operate in harsh weather conditions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Designed in collaboration with military users, the JIM Compact is intended for special operations forces, forward observers, infantry units, artillery crews, coast guards, border security forces, and law enforcement agencies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"&#13;
