BMW<\/a> has promised that the new Alpina will offer a distinct driving experience that should please people who love driving. BMW Group Design Adrian van Hooydonk told us that Alpina is for \u201cconnoisseurs.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Regardless of who buys Alpina\u2019s next new model, the car should have plenty of style, comfort, and performance. It will debut sometime next year, but until then, this is everything we know about BMW Alpina\u2019s new sedan.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n What Will BMW Call It?\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n With the new Alpina likely sharing a platform and powertrain with the upcoming 7 Series, we wouldn\u2019t be surprised if the sedan becomes the spiritual successor to the B7<\/a>. Alpina last sold it in 2022. Hooydonk revealed that the automaker didn\u2019t feel the \u201cneed to show off a lot of difference in the exterior\u201d and that the changes will be \u201crather subtle.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Our rendering depicts the Alpina with a familiar front- and rear-end design inspired by the concept and aligned with the 7 Series. Inside, buyers will have a plethora of customization options. \u201cYou can have whatever you want,” said Hooydonk<\/a>, adding, “There are going to be a lot of offerings in terms of personalization for Alpina customers.”\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Of course, it should have the brand\u2019s iconic 20-spoke wheels.<\/p>\n What Platform Will It Ride On?\u00a0<\/p>\n Photo by: BMW<\/p>\n BMW has already confirmed that the new Alpina will be \u201cinspired by\u201d the 7 Series, and we suspect that means that the two will share a platform. The concept is shorter than the production sedan, measuring 204.7 inches.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n The 7 Series measures 212.6 inches, but the concept also has two fewer doors, falling well within the range for a 7 Series coupe. Alpina\u2019s production car will likely be nearly identical to the 7 Series in length and wheelbase.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n What Will Power The New Alpina?\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n The new Alpina will likely pack a V8 engine<\/a> closely related to the one that will power the upcoming M Performance 7 Series, but with modifications. The concept featured a V8 \u201ctuned to produce the characteristic notes of the Alpina exhaust: rich and deep at low speed, sonorous at high revs.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n The last B7 shared its twin-turbo V8 with the 7 Series but made much more power, pumping out 600 horsepower. The new sedan should also be faster than its 7 Series sibling, with Hooydonk telling us:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n \u2018Alpina customers want to travel fast and far in great comfort. That\u2019s what we\u2019re going to set these cars up to do, and our engineers are working on this as we speak.\u2019\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n When Will It Debut?\u00a0<\/p>\n The new Alpina will debut sometime in 2027, and we would not be surprised if it happened at next year\u2019s Concorso d\u2019Eleganza Villa d\u2019Este. The event, which takes place on the shores of Lake Como in Italy, occurs at the end of May and has become a popular venue for high-end reveals\u2014perfect for a brand like Alpina.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n How Much Will It Cost?\u00a0 <\/p>\n BMW has likened acquiring Alpina to that of Mini<\/a> and Rolls-Royce<\/a>\u2014the automaker knows how to integrate a new brand into the rest of the portfolio. With the rich getting richer, the automaker might have found an Alpina-sized wealth gap in its portfolio between the $100,000 BMW 7 Series and the $370,000 Rolls-Royce Ghost<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n We expect the Alpina to have a six-figure starting price, likely around $200,000 before options and customization.
