A section of downtown will be blocked off for the car show, which is from 10 am until 2 pm on Saturday, featuring a live DJ as well as food and drink vendors. Emily Russell spoke with Bayle Reichert from the village of Saranac Lake about this weekend’s events.

Emily RussellSaranac Lake to host Porsche show on Friday, Cruisin’ car show on Saturday

<a class="noslideshow fancybox" data-fancybox="" title="The Cruisin' car show in Saranac Lake in 2025. Photo provided by the Village of Saranac Lake.

EMILY RUSSELL: So, this is the second annual Cruisin’Car Show to come to downtown Saranac Lake. You were part of helping organize last year’s event. Tell me how the event came about and the inspiration for it.

BAYLE REICHERT: Actually, Katie Stiles, a local in Saranac Lake, is all about historical old cars, and we have a monthly event, a happenings meeting, and she thought of having the car show as part of a summer event in Saranac Lake. It would be something different and bring a different demographic than the usual crowd to mix it up a little bit. So that’s kind of how it came about.

RUSSELL: So I was in town for it last year. The downtown is blocked off. A bunch of cars were parked in the parking lot and throughout downtown. There was a lot going on. Tell me a little bit more about what it was like last year, the first time you guys hosted this event.

Photo provided by the Village of Saranac Lake.

REICHERT: It was a little nerve-racking because we didn’t know what to expect. But once cars started funneling in, the excitement started to grow more and more. We had about 93 participants for the cars. So that was the max of the layout and it was cool to see people coming from the farmers market over to our car show, just mingling through town and even people that didn’t even know about the car show were all excited about it.

Kids were walking around and dogs are allowed, so people were able to walk through town and hit up the shops and everything. The people that were part of the car show just chilled with their car and were able to talk to everybody else with their cars. It was cool to see a variety of people coming out and celebrating in the middle of summer. It was something so different.

Photo provided by the Village of Saranac Lake.

RUSSELL: And it’s old and new cars, and then how do people get involved with it?

REICHERT: We have an online registration for this year so people can pre-register. I really post it everywhere. We walked around and put flyers up early and posted on social media, involved ROOST with the online and press releases and stuff. This year for pre-registration, they get a free T-shirt with it, and it’s $25 to register.

People can register the day of as well. I noticed with car shows that a lot of people wait just in case of the rain. Right now we have about 40 people signed up for pre-registration. We also work with a couple other people who are involved with car shows around the area. They share it with the people they know, so it’s a good variety of people with the older cars to the newer cars. I’m not a car person, but I can tell from pre-registration that there’s a good variety of different vehicles, which is cool.

RUSSELL: And then there’s a historical aspect of the event. Tell me just a little bit about what people can learn about the history of cars in the Adirondacks.

REICHERT: We’re going to be working with Alex Krach from Historic Saranac Lake. He usually sets up historical boards that show how the tourism industry was influenced by automobiles. All the way to the old cars driving on the side of the road to different old photos, which is really neat. They’ll be at the car show this year, so you can learn a little more about the details and also have his boards over at the welcome party on that Friday.

Photo provided by the Village of Saranac Lake.

RUSSELL: So the Cruisin’ Car Show is coinciding with the 70th annual Porsche parade and the first time it’s been held here in the Adirondacks. I’m seeing Porsches all across the area. So, how did that come about and how big of a deal is it that these events are coinciding?

REICHERT: It’s really cool how it all ended up coinciding because their car show in Saranac Lake came about because of our car show last year. So, they reached out to us, seeing that we had a car show here before. So, they were like, we want to spread the love from Lake Placid to Saranac Lake; can we do our car show in Saranac Lake on that Friday? We didn’t choose our date yet. So, we were like, perfect.

Let’s do June 19 for your car show and then the 20th for our car show, so then it’s a good flow. So, we’re really excited to have them in town. They’ve been great to work with. It sounds like they already have 123 Porsches signed up for that and there’s going to be thousands of people mingling around Saranac Lake on that Friday. I know there’s like at least 2,000 people in Lake Placid for that event all week. So we’re really excited to have them all come into town and visit our restaurants and go to our shops.

<a class="noslideshow fancybox" data-fancybox="" title="The Cruisin' car show in Saranac Lake in 2025. Photo provided by the Village of Saranac Lake.

RUSSELL: Is there anything that you’re looking forward to at the car show in Saranac Lake? Anything different about this year or just, you know, I don’t know, the vibe of it all, anything that you’re excited for?

REICHERT: It’s interesting to know more and more about car shows as I learn more over time. This year we decided to work with a local artist, Michael Burpoe. He does watercoloring throughout the area and we had him create what are called dash plaques. So, for each participant, they get a dash plaque, which, at every car show they go to, they usually get a dash plaque. It says Village of Saranac Lake Cruisin’ Car Show and then his art is on it, showing different cars on the dash plaques. So, I’m excited to share the ‘Decidedly Different’ art of Saranac Lake in a different way than a lot of people would think, and having those dash plaques as a memento for people to have is really cool.

Photo provided by the Village of Saranac Lake.

Jun 18, 2026 — If you’re in the Adirondacks this weekend and looking for something to do, head…

[21181
34410,5354,8406,34411
post-38970","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-porsche","tag-adirondacks","tag-cars","tag-porsche","tag-saranac-lake
["GET
