{"id":41307,"date":"2026-06-22T17:42:20","date_gmt":"2026-06-22T17:42:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/41307\/"},"modified":"2026-06-22T17:42:20","modified_gmt":"2026-06-22T17:42:20","slug":"mercedes-benz-to-open-cost-cutting-talks-with-labour-representatives-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/41307\/","title":{"rendered":"Mercedes-Benz to open cost-cutting talks with labour representatives"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Mercedes-Benz is preparing to begin formal negotiations with union leaders on further cost-reduction and competitiveness measures as the German carmaker increases its use of artificial intelligence to improve productivity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The discussions were confirmed by human resources chief Britta Seeger and will run alongside existing labour agreements, known internally as ZuSi (Zukunftssicherung, or \u201cfuture security\u201d), which remain in place until 2034 and exclude compulsory redundancies at the company\u2019s German factories.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">According to Bloomberg\u2019s report, the negotiations come as the carmaker faces pressure from US tariffs and a prolonged sales decline in China.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">In China, weaker consumer confidence, a property slump, and intensifying competition from domestic electric vehicle manufacturers have weighed on demand for luxury vehicles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Speaking at Mercedes-Benz headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany, as reported by the publication, Seeger said: \u201cWe need to evaluate, have we done everything within Mercedes, within Germany, to be more competitive against our rivals.
