A third day of record-breaking heat surprised meteorologists as temperatures climbed to 41.7\u00b0C in eastern Germany, leaving nights unusually warm and officials increasingly concerned.<\/p>\n
The German Meteorological Service (DWD) recorded a third consecutive day of record-high temperatures in the country \u2013 41.7\u00b0C, this time in the eastern state of Brandenburg.<\/p>\n
According to DWD, the information was also reported by the dpa agency.<\/p>\n
Heatwave characteristics and key data<\/p>\n
According to meteorologists, peak heat was recorded during the day in the town of Naisem\u00fcnde, located near the Polish border about 130 km southeast of Berlin.<\/p>\n
The previous Germany-wide record had been set just two days earlier and stood at 41.3\u00b0C in the Saarbr\u00fccken-Burbach district near the French border.<\/p>\n
On Saturday at 15:00 at the same weather station, 41.4\u00b0C was recorded.<\/p>\n
On the same day at 16:20, a new maximum was recorded \u2013 41.5\u00b0C in one of the municipalities of the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt.<\/p>\n
During the night into Sunday, June 28, the temperature in one of Saxony\u2019s municipalities did not drop below 29.4\u00b0C \u2013 another sign of the heat wave that persists.<\/p>\n
