Image: NGEN. <\/p>\n<p>NGEN and Harmony Energy have made strides in deploying large-scale BESS projects in Germany, launching construction and securing pipeline financing respectively.<\/p>\n<p>NGEN <\/p>\n<p>Owner-operator NGEN has broken ground on a 50MW\/100MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Wilhelmshaven, Germany, being deployed in partnership with power firm Uniper. <\/p>\n<p>Commissioning is scheduled for Q4 2026. It is on the former site of a Uniper thermal power plant, and the BESS is part of a redevelopment of the entire site as a renewable energy hub, the Energy Transformation Hub Nordwest (ETHNw). <\/p>\n<p>NGEN is based in Slovenia but has deployed or is deploying BESS in multiple European countries, including its home market, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.energy-storage.news\/ngen-building-170mwh-austria-bess-foresight-and-ebrd-invest-in-germany-lithuania-developers\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.energy-storage.news\/ngen-building-170mwh-austria-bess-foresight-and-ebrd-invest-in-germany-lithuania-developers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Austria<\/a>, Croatia, Poland, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.energy-storage.news\/eu-roundup-big-bess-project-news-in-greece-germany-romania-and-portugal\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.energy-storage.news\/eu-roundup-big-bess-project-news-in-greece-germany-romania-and-portugal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Portugal<\/a> and now Germany. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.energy-storage.news\/ngen-deploying-largest-bess-in-slovenia-austria-and-croatia-looking-beyond-cee\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.energy-storage.news\/ngen-deploying-largest-bess-in-slovenia-austria-and-croatia-looking-beyond-cee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">We spoke to founder and CEO Roman Bernard just before it expanded outside its initial core markets in 2023<\/a>.
