A Yonkers cop opened fire on a carjacking suspect barreling toward him in a stolen black BMW after a harried police chase and crash<\/a> on a Bronx highway Wednesday, officials said.<\/p>\n

No one was shot during the 10:15 a.m. incident, Yonkers police said. Cops from multiple jurisdictions, including the NYPD, were searching for the carjacker, who sped off after the shooting.<\/p>\n

No NYPD officers were involved in the initial incident, officials said.<\/p>\n

Things began in Yonkers when cops began \u201cactively pursuing a suspect vehicle from a carjacking,\u201d a Yonkers Police Department spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

Yonkers cops followed the fleeing car thief into the Bronx, where the suspect began traveling up an exit ramp to the Mosholu Parkway in Van Cortlandt Park.<\/a><\/p>\n

The carjacker collided head-on with a marked Yonkers police vehicle exiting down the ramp in pursuit of him.<\/p>\n

When both vehicles came to a stop, an officer jumped out of the patrol car and tried to grab the carjacker \u2014 but he gunned the engine and sped toward the cop.<\/p>\n

The officer drew his weapon and blasted off several shots at the Bimmer as the car thief drove off, fleeing the scene.<\/p>\n

The carjacker never struck the cop, who was treated for minor injuries he sustained in the initial collision, the YPD spokesman said.<\/p>\n

No arrests have been made.<\/p>\n

\u201cOfficers from several jurisdictions are still attempting to locate the suspect,\u201d the spokesman said.<\/p>\n
