The Eisb\u00e4ren Berlin\u2019s 4-2 home win in the third semi-final game of the German Ice Hockey League against the K\u00f6lner Haie was overshadowed by serious riots after the end of the game.<\/p>\n
As reported by rbb24, among others, there was a targeted attack on a guest fan bus around the arena in Berlin-Friedrichshain on Sunday. Around 20 to 30 masked people attacked the vehicle with flagpoles, bottles and punches. Windows were damaged, fan materials were stolen and at least one occupant was injured, as \u201cwww.rbb24.de\u201d reported. The police subsequently checked numerous people and investigated a particularly serious breach of the peace.<\/p>\n
In terms of sport, the Berliners had previously won game three of the \u201cbest-of-seven\u201d series 4-2, making it 2-1.<\/p>\n
Club reacts with a clear statement<\/p>\n
The Eisb\u00e4ren Berlin spoke out with an official statement shortly after the incidents became known \u2013 and found clear words. The club clearly distanced itself from the perpetrators and condemned the attack \u201cin the strongest possible terms\u201d.<\/p>\n
The organization also expressly apologized to the K\u00f6lner Haie, their fans and everyone affected by the attack. At the same time, those responsible emphasized that violence had no place in ice hockey and was not compatible with the club\u2019s values.<\/p>\n
It was also emphasized that the perpetrators were not representative Berlin fans \u2013 a large part of the supporters clearly distanced themselves from such actions.<\/p>\n
