{"id":48937,"date":"2026-07-05T23:45:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-05T23:45:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/48937\/"},"modified":"2026-07-05T23:45:08","modified_gmt":"2026-07-05T23:45:08","slug":"german-foreign-minister-condemns-turkish-counterparts-remarks-on-israel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/48937\/","title":{"rendered":"German foreign minister condemns Turkish counterpart\u2019s remarks on Israel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Sunday, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul condemned recent remarks by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan against Israel, following a call by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/middle-east\/article-901311\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Foreign Minister Gideon Sa\u2019ar.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Sa\u2019ar called on NATO leaders to condemn what he described as Fidan\u2019s \u201csickening\u201d remarks, calling them \u201cclear incitement to genocide&#8221; on Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cDehumanizing the Jewish people and presenting it as an \u2018unbearable burden\u2019 is the classic language of the great oppressors in history,\u201d Sa\u2019ar said. \u201cThe enlightened world and Turkey\u2019s NATO allies must unequivocally condemn this explicit call for Israel\u2019s destruction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Wadephul said that \u201cthe recent statements by the Turkish foreign minister against Israel are clearly unacceptable. Israel faces an ongoing threat in the region, and it has the right and duty to defend its citizens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wadephul is scheduled to visit Israel on Tuesday and meet with Sa\u2019ar, before continuing to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/international\/article-901349\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">NATO<\/a> meeting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Sa\u2019ar\u2019s remarks came after Fidan gave an interview last week to CNN T\u00fcrk, in which he sharpened his criticism of Israel.
