{"id":48950,"date":"2026-07-06T00:41:16","date_gmt":"2026-07-06T00:41:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/48950\/"},"modified":"2026-07-06T00:41:16","modified_gmt":"2026-07-06T00:41:16","slug":"canada-to-decide-between-german-south-korean-submarine-bids-on-monday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/48950\/","title":{"rendered":"Canada to decide between German, South Korean submarine bids on Monday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TORONTO \u2014 Canada is expected Monday to choose between German and South Korean bids to build a fleet of 12 submarines in one of its biggest-ever military procurements. <\/p>\n<p>Germany\u2019s ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems and South Korea\u2019s Hanwha Ocean are competing for the contract to build 12 conventionally powered submarines worth tens of billions of dollars.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement is expected before Prime Minister Mark Carney departs to the NATO summit in Turkey as NATO allies boost defense spending.<\/p>\n<p>Carney is scheduled to tour a Canadian Armed Forces base in the Atlantic-coast province of Nova Scotia on Monday before announcing \u201cnew measures to make Canada more secure, resilient, and prosperous.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for Carney declined to confirm the submarine announcement will be made on Monday.
