Germany has signed<\/a> a production contract for thousands of autonomous strike drones to be built on its territory for Ukraine, marking its largest move yet into industrial-scale manufacturing of heavy combat unmanned systems.<\/p>\n

The agreement enables the Auterion Airlogix Joint Venture to begin manufacturing mid-range X-wing and delta-wing autonomous strike systems in Germany for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to the companies involved, the deal converts a cooperation framework announced at the Munich Security Conference in February 2026 into funded production at scale, with output planned in the thousands of systems annually.<\/p>\n

The drones are based on Ukrainian combat-proven airframes and integrated with Auterion\u2019s autonomy software stack, including AI-assisted navigation, electronic warfare resilience, and GNSS-denied operation capability.\u00a0<\/p>\n

These systems also incorporate the Skynode flight computer and Nemyx swarm coordination software, designed for coordinated multi-drone operations in contested environments.<\/p>\n

Ukraine Drone Production Partnerships With Foreign Defense<\/p>\n

Ukraine has expanded drone production partnerships rapidly since Russia\u2019s full-scale invasion in 2022, relying on both domestic startups and foreign defense firms to scale battlefield UAV supply.<\/p>\n

In February, Lithuania launched another round of fundraising to finance robotic systems for Ukraine\u2019s armed forces<\/a>. These include drone-based battlefield reconnaissance and battle-management platforms, long-range drones, and drone interceptors.<\/p>\n

In December 2025, German drone maker Quantum Systems and Ukrainian defense tech start-up Frontline Robotics formed a joint venture to mass-produce drones<\/a> for the military.<\/p>\n

Earlier, in October 2025, the Netherlands announced a partnership with Ukraine to produce deep-strike drones with Ukraine<\/a>.
