BURLINGAME, CA – \u00a0A\u00a01956 Mercedes-Benz 300 Sc Cabriolet\u00a0was selected as winner of the \u201cBest of Show: Elegance\u201d\u00a0at the June 28th 70th\u00a0annual\u00a0Hillsborough Concours d\u2019Elegance<\/a>,\u00a0while a\u00a01966 Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada\u00a0earned \u201cBest of Show: Sport\u201d honors\u00a0during festivities held Sunday at Crystal Springs Golf Course.<\/p>\n Showcasing excellence in automotive design and engineering, the event (the world\u2019s longest continuously running concours) was highlighted by the display of more than 200 treasured vintage and classic cars. Established 100 years ago in 1926, this year\u2019s Concours paid tribute to\u00a0the 100th\u00a0anniversary of Mercedes-Benz, with three judged classes: Pre-War, Post-War and Sportscars. For the first time ever, The Concours also featured\u00a0a special judged class of \u201cRestomods Through 1973.\u201d<\/p>\n Concours guests also got an up-close look at 22 judged classes of vehicles representing the finest in quality, marque variability and uniqueness. The 200 automobiles were on display along the Crystal Springs 18th\u00a0fairway represented virtually every genre and marque, including hot rods, Restomods, muscle and hyper cars, and grand touring elegant classic pre- and post-war luxury models.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0\u201cBest of Show: Elegance\u201d was one of multiple awards earned by the 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300 Sc Cabriolet. The exquisite Mercedes also earned first place honors in the \u201cMercedes Post-War\u201d category, while also winning the \u201cFranklin Templeton Investments Award,\u201d which recognizes the \u201cBest Open Post-WWII Car.\u201d<\/p>\n In addition to \u201cBest of Show: Sport,\u201d the Bizzarrini earned top honors in the show\u2019s \u201cImported Sports Cars- 1965-1987,\u201d as well as the \u201cFranklin Templeton Investments Perpetual Award,\u201d recognizing the Best Closed post-World War II car.<\/p>\n About the Hillsborough Concours d\u2019 Elegance<\/p>\n For 70 years, the Hillsborough Concours d\u2019 Elegance has built and maintained a proud tradition of honoring and celebrating excellence in automotive design and engineering.
