\n\tAfter unveiling its 3D-printed basketball sneaker<\/a> during March Madness, Adidas<\/a> has now announced an imminent release for the previously unnamed model.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Adidas<\/a> BB.01 takes performance basketball into a new era with a 3D-printed lattice forming its upper. Designed to steady the foot without any distractions and with a bespoke fit, the shell is printed with sweeping lines that give way to breathable windows near the middle of each side. A bootie with traditional lacing then sits within for an arrangement quite similar to James Harden<\/a>\u2018s recent signature shoes, and the comparison is strengthened with a similar Three Stripes motif running down the heel.<\/p>\n

\n\tThis sneaker will be the first release out of Adidas\u2019 Project R.A.P. platform, which is short for \u201cRadical Athlete Perception\u201d and is bringing additive manufacturing to performance footwear in several sports. A 3D-printed soccer cleat was shown after the BB.01\u2019s initial reveal, and Adidas has also confirmed development for American football. <\/p>\n

\n\tFernando Mendoza, the top pick in the 2026 NFL Draft coming off a national championship and Heisman trophy, was one of several football players to visit Adidas\u2019 Portland campus to get an early look at Project. R.A.P.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a March press release, he said: \u201cComing to Portland with this class and seeing what the brand is building \u2014 the innovation, the investment, the people \u2014 it reinforced that this is where I want to be. I can\u2019t wait to get to work.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t3D printing<\/a> has also been seen at Adidas through its 4D line, which has employed lattice midsoles on shoes for lifestyle and running, as well as its Climacool<\/a> shoes for everyday wear. <\/p>\n

\n\tRivals Nike have worked with Zellerfeld for its own 3D printing<\/a> efforts, which have focused on new silhouettes inspired by the Air Max 1 and Air Max 95. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe Adidas BB.01 will release July 14 through the Confirmed app. Pricing is set at $250. <\/p>\n
