A 25-year-old man was taken into custody early Monday morning after police say he crashed his Porsche into the median while driving the wrong way<\/a> on Interstate 95.<\/p>\n

Around 3 a.m. Monday, Massachusetts State Police troopers responded to reports of a vehicle traveling north in the southbound lane in the Reading area of the highway, the agency said in a statement. <\/p>\n

Before troopers arrived, the vehicle, a black Porsche 911, crashed in the left lane by Exit 54A in Woburn, State Police said. No injuries were reported and no other vehicles were involved.<\/p>\n

Police arrested the driver, John Tarshi, 25, of Lawrence, and charged him with operating under the influence of liquor. <\/p>\n

The crash comes as Massachusetts pours between $50 and $75 million into a new statewide system aimed at preventing and detecting wrong-way drivers on highways. <\/p>\n

The system will include more than 400 locations, representing a massive expansion of the current 16 detection systems<\/a> at exits and on-ramps in Bernardston, Webster, Burlington, Chelmsford, Danvers, Barnstable, Plymouth and Boston.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want us doing everything we can to prevent and stop wrong-way driving,\u201d Gov.
