The Singapore-listed company will supply two commissioning service operation vessels for an Apac wind project<\/p>\n

[SINGAPORE] Marco Polo Marine on Thursday (Jul 9) said it has secured a multi-year framework agreement with global turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy to deploy two commissioning service operation vessels (CSOVs) in the Asia-Pacific (Apac) region.<\/p>\n

A CSOV is a specialised offshore support ship<\/a> used to build, commission and maintain offshore wind farms. They act as floating hotels and headquarters, which allows technicians to reside at sea for extended periods while accessing remote wind turbines.<\/p>\n

The agreement, executed through Marco Polo Marine\u2019s offshore wind subsidiary PKR Offshore (PKRO), is scheduled to run for an initial two-year period starting in 2029. The contract includes an option to bring the start date forward to 2028, alongside options for multi-year extensions ranging from one to three years.<\/p>\n

Under the deal, PKRO will deploy the two upcoming CSOVs to support Siemens Gamesa\u2019s offshore wind projects in Taiwan on a non-exclusive basis. Additionally, the two companies will collaborate to extend the fleet\u2019s deployment to offshore projects in South Korea and Japan.<\/p>\n

Sean Lee, CEO of Marco Polo Marine, said: \u201cSecuring a multi-year framework agreement for our CSOVs, even ahead of the delivery of vessels, is a strong endorsement of our next-generation CSOV Plus and of PKRO\u2019s track record in supporting offshore wind projects in Taiwan.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fleet expansion<\/p>\n

To align with broader industry decarbonisation goals, the new vessels will be equipped with Siemens Energy\u2019s BlueDrive PlusC hybrid propulsion system. The technology is designed to improve fuel efficiency, reduce emissions and enable cleaner offshore operations.<\/p>\n

The agreement establishes a demand pipeline for Marco Polo Marine as it pivots its chartering operations to support the nascent but growing Asian offshore wind energy sector, said the company.<\/p>\n

The company\u2019s offshore wind fleet is undergoing a phased expansion. For a start, PKRO\u2019s first CSOV, the MP Wind Archer, has been deployed on a charter contract in Taiwan since April 2025.<\/p>\n

A second unit, dubbed the CSOV Plus, is being built at the company\u2019s 34 hectare shipyard in Batam, Indonesia, with delivery targeted for the second quarter of 2028. Purpose-built for dual-sector operations in offshore wind and oil and gas, it is billed as the group\u2019s most advanced support vessel to date.<\/p>\n

Radoslaw Rams, head of project management for offshore Asia-Pacific at Siemens Gamesa, said that the agreement strengthens the company\u2019s offshore execution capabilities and secures reliable solutions for clients across Taiwan and the wider Apac market.<\/p>\n
