Ondas and Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG have launched<\/a> ONBERG Autonomous Systems, a joint venture focused on autonomous drone defense technologies.<\/p>\n

Operations have started at Heidelberg\u2019s facility in Brandenburg an der Havel, northeast Germany, where the companies held an event that included a live demonstration of the systems.<\/p>\n

The joint venture is structured to combine development, systems integration, and manufacturing within a single European-based operation.<\/p>\n

Initial activities are expected to focus on Germany and Ukraine, with plans to expand across other European markets.<\/p>\n

The setup also reflects an effort to localize production and supply chains within Europe.<\/p>\n

ONBERG \u201cwill become the hub for a self-sufficient, scalable production facility for autonomous drone defense,\u201d said J\u00fcrgen Otto, CEO of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis venture will make a significant contribution to Europe\u2019s technological independence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Next-Gen Drone Defense<\/p>\n

Designed to counter aerial threats, ONBERG\u2019s technologies are based on Ondas\u2019 autonomous systems and leverage Heidelberg\u2019s engineering capabilities.<\/p>\n

The architecture integrates detection, decision-making, and response functions into a single system, enabling continuous monitoring and automated reaction.<\/p>\n

It uses AI-based detection and autonomous interception to identify and track aerial objects without continuous human control.<\/p>\n

The systems are intended for deployment in environments such as energy infrastructure, transport nodes, and other sensitive sites, where persistent monitoring and rapid response are required.<\/p>\n

Ondas Latest Contracts<\/p>\n

The initiative follows a series of recent moves by Florida-based Ondas to expand its defense footprint.<\/p>\n

In March, the company agreed to merge with Mistral, a US-based contractor<\/a> that provides access to established US Army and Special Operations contract vehicles.<\/p>\n

The deal adds domestic manufacturing, integration, and contracting capacity for large Pentagon programs.<\/p>\n

Separately, Ondas has secured about $6 million in orders in the Middle East<\/a> for its Sentrycs counter-drone systems.<\/p>\n
