The project, located on the site of the former Uniper coal-fired power plant in Wilhelmshaven, Germany, is designed to balance wind and solar power, supporting grid stability and renewables integration, according to a joint press release from the two companies.<\/p>\n<p>The battery energy storage system (<a href=\"https:\/\/balkangreenenergynews.com\/ngen-group-breaks-ground-in-austria-for-one-of-europes-largest-energy-storage-facilities\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">BESS<\/a>) in Wilhelmshaven, a North Sea port town in Lower Saxony, is targeted to come online in the first quarter of 2027, <a href=\"https:\/\/balkangreenenergynews.com\/ngen-commissions-9-4-mw-tesla-megapack-battery-storage-system-in-poland\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NGEN<\/a> and Uniper announced.<\/p>\n<p>The BESS will balance short-term power grid fluctuations caused by the feed-in of wind and solar energy. In this way, the system will sustainably strengthen the integration of renewable energy sources and grid stability, they said.<\/p>\n<p>Lower Saxony Minister-President: Battery systems will help reduce the cost of the energy transition<\/p>\n<p>According to Olaf Lies, Minister-President of the German state of Lower Saxony, battery storage systems such as this one will help reduce the costs of Germany\u2019s energy transition by allowing renewable electricity to be temporarily stored, rather than <a href=\"https:\/\/balkangreenenergynews.com\/greece-achieves-record-renewables-output-but-also-curtailments-in-2025\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">curtailed<\/a> at a high cost.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the investment \u201ccomes at just the right time, at a key energy hub for Germany in Wilhelmshaven.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For his part, Jan Taschenberger, COO of New Green Power &amp; Gas at Uniper, stressed that the location of the BESS offers ideal conditions for efficiently integrating renewable energy and making it available exactly when needed.<\/p>\n<p>NGEN\u2019s Roman Bernard: Supporting a modern, resilient energy infrastructure in Germany<\/p>\n<p>Roman Bernard, CEO and Co-Founder of <a href=\"https:\/\/balkangreenenergynews.com\/ngen-group-enters-latvia-with-eur-50-million-investment\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NGEN<\/a>, said that the two companies are sending a joint signal in support of innovation, climate protection, and a modern, resilient energy infrastructure in Germany.<\/p>\n<p>NGEN Group is in the technology sponsors roster of the upcoming <a href=\"https:\/\/belgradeenergyforum.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Belgrade Energy Forum, BEF 2026<\/a>, in Serbia\u2019s capital city, <a href=\"https:\/\/balkangreenenergynews.com\/belgrade-energy-forum-2026-leaders-of-energy-transition-convening-in-serbias-capital-on-may-11-12\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">starting on May 11<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Headquartered in Slovenia and active in 11 countries, the group manages over 200 MWh of assets.
