The long-term goal, he added, is to ramp up annual production to 350,000 cars and increase the workforce to 9,000–10,000 employees.

After the announcement, Prime Minister Magyar took the wheel of an electric Mercedes and drove to the opening ceremony venue alongside Ola Källenius, the global CEO of Mercedes-Benz.

The new government’s aim is to maintain a predictable and cooperative relationship with Mercedes, as well as with any other company wishing to invest in Hungary, the Prime Minister emphasized during the inauguration ceremony of the new production units and the official launch of electric C-Class manufacturing.

Magyar stressed that Hungary is ready to provide a stable economic environment, a competitive tax system, adequate infrastructure, and a skilled workforce to remain—or become—an attractive investment destination. However, he noted that partnership must be a two-way street: the new Hungarian government expects all parties to comply with regulations and show respect for Hungarian workers.

The Prime Minister underscored that manual laborers are entitled to fair wages, workplace safety, and the right to rest, just as much as top executives. He declared that the government’s goal is not only to ensure the availability of work in Hungary but also to guarantee that fairly performed work enables a secure livelihood.

He further emphasized that the government views the Kecskemét plant not merely as a production facility but as an opportunity for Hungarian companies to integrate at the highest possible levels into the supply chains that culminate in a new electric vehicle rolling off the assembly line. Hungarian expertise and innovation can provide significant added value, he said, adding that the government aims to ensure that Hungarian small- and medium-sized enterprises also benefit from these major investments. However, he noted that this responsibility does not rest solely on domestic businesses.

Related articles:

At a time when public debate is increasingly polarized and superficial, Hungarian Conservative remains committed to depth, intellectual honesty, and independent conservative thought.

                    Producing high-quality journalism requires resources.
