An Insa Institute poll conducted for “Bild am Sonntag” reveals that 43 percent of respondents view the restructuring of the energy system toward renewables as generally positive, while 42 percent view it as generally negative. Of the 1,001 people surveyed on April 16 and 17, 15 percent provided no response.

The expansion of renewable energy is supported by 47 percent of participants. Meanwhile, 26 percent favor no change to current levels, and 16 percent would prefer to see less expansion. Regarding the nuclear phase-out, 49 percent of respondents rate the move as generally poor, compared to 36 percent who view it favorably, with 15 percent remaining undecided.

Opinions are similarly split on the target of achieving climate neutrality by 2045: 46 percent consider this goal to be relatively important, while 38 percent deem it relatively unimportant. Another 16 percent expressed no opinion on the matter.

Protests against the dilution of energy policy

On Saturday, thousands of people demonstrated in several major cities against the federal government’s current energy policies. Protesters warned that high energy prices should not be used as a pretext to jeopardize the success of the energy transition. Organizers estimated a total turnout of 80,000 people across protests in Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, and Cologne.

The survey also highlights the financial pressure on households, with 72 percent of respondents feeling heavily burdened by the sharp rise in electricity and energy costs. Specifically, 35 percent described the burden as very heavy, while 37 percent characterized it as somewhat heavy. In contrast, 21 percent felt the costs were either a minor burden or no burden at all, while 7 percent declined to comment./shy/DP/zb

BERLIN (dpa-AFX) – Public sentiment in Germany regarding the country’s energy transition remains deeply polarized, according to a…

[2
5,548
0":"post-5717","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-germany","8":"tag-germany","9":"tag-markets
["GET
