<\/p>\nSiemens Mobility has been chosen by Motiva to provide signalling technology for S\u00e3o Paulo\u2019s brand-new Line 4-Yellow extension.<\/p>\n
The new line extension, which will see Line 4-Yellow become Latin America\u2019s first fully automated and driverless metro system, will include the integration of a number of rail technologies, including Siemens Mobility\u2019s CBTC (Communications-Based Train Control) technology, and the highest grade of automation (GoA4), among others.<\/p>\n

Once completed, the project will add 3.3 km of double-track tunnels, which will connect the current terminus at Esta\u00e7\u00e3o Vila S\u00f4nia-Prof\u00aa Elisabeth Tenreiro to the new terminus at Tabo\u00e3o da Serra.<\/p>\n
The extension is expected to benefit more than 280,000 residents living in the Tabo\u00e3o da Serra region, and will serve around 110,000 passengers daily with an estimated journey time of 26 minutes.<\/p>\n

This new chapter, the extension of S\u00e3o Paulo\u2019s Line 4-Yellow, shows our strong commitment to Brazil\u2019s metro market. Latin America’s first fully automated, driverless metro is already a success, with punctuality and availability rates close to 100%. Now, we are building on this proven reliability to deliver even greater connectivity for the region.<\/p>\n
This project reinforces the scalability of Siemens Mobility’s solutions and our ability to help cities worldwide transform urban transit with sustainable and efficient innovations.<\/p>\n
In total, the project will see the length of the Line 4-Yellow extended to 16.1 km, as well as the addition of two new stations \u2013 Esta\u00e7\u00e3o Ch\u00e1cara do Jockey and Esta\u00e7\u00e3o Tabo\u00e3o da Serra. It will render Esta\u00e7\u00e3o Tabo\u00e3o da Serra the first S\u00e3o Paulo Metro station located outside the city limits, and strengthen Line 4\u2019s role as a key connector across S\u00e3o Paulo\u2019s metro network.<\/p>\n
For its part, Siemens Mobility will deliver a full signalling portfolio, including its CBTC system Trainguard MT, electronic interlocking, telecommunications, operational supervision, and GoA4. Whilst the interlocking system will be provided from Germany, the CBTC system will be sourced from France, and parts of the advanced telecommunications solutions will come from Italy, with final integration taking place in Brazil.<\/p>\n
Additionally, six trains will also be equipped with CBTC technology, ensuring seamless integration into the network.<\/p>\n
