There were thousands of ways to customize the Baby Benz, ranging from subtle-looking body kits from BBS to updates from AMG that put more power under the gas pedal. Built in 1984, this 190E represents the more extreme end of the spectrum: It’s decked out with a Schulz-Getzke widebody kit, a front end inspired by the SEC coupe, and 15-inch BBS wheels. It doesn’t sound like there are mechanical modifications, so this is a pretty standard W201 with a 2.0-liter and a four-speed stick under the body kit.

The car was delivered new in Munich, and it spent decades in Norway before joining the Patina Collective collection in 2025. While it starts and idles, Broad Arrow notes it has been stored for “an extended period of time,” so it needs to be inspected and serviced before it can triumphantly cruise into a cars-and-coffee meet. The pre-auction estimate is set at $45,000 to $55,000.

Jasen Delgado/Courtesy of Broad Arrow Auctions

Jasen Delgado/Courtesy of Broad Arrow Auctions

Jasen Delgado/Courtesy of Broad Arrow Auctions

Jasen Delgado/Courtesy of Broad Arrow Auctions

Jasen Delgado/Courtesy of Broad Arrow Auctions

Lot 105

While many of the classics in the Broad Arrow Patina Collective sale were modified right after they left the factory, this early-production 560SEC stayed stock for decades. It was sold new in Phoenix, Arizona, and it remained with its original owner until 2016. Its second owner fitted numerous period-correct aftermarket parts, including a rare ABC Exclusive Tuning widebody kit, Gotti wheels, and Recaro Classic-C front seats.

Broad Arrow expects a winning bid between $55,000 and $60,000.

Jasen Delgado/Courtesy of Broad Arrow Auctions

Jasen Delgado/Courtesy of Broad Arrow Auctions

Jasen Delgado/Courtesy of Broad Arrow Auctions

Jasen Delgado/Courtesy of Broad Arrow Auctions

Jasen Delgado/Courtesy of Broad Arrow Auctions

Lot 131

Built jointly by Mercedes-Benz and Porsche, the 500E stood out as the quickest and most powerful W124 designed in-house. Some enthusiasts argued that there was still room for improvement, and AMG was happy to crank up the performance for buyers with a thick enough wallet. This 1993 model was sent to Affalterbach, where its 5.0-liter V-8 was bored and stroked to 6.0 liters for an output of 381 horsepower (up from 320 in the standard 500E). AMG also recalibrated the sport suspension and installed a performance exhaust system, a 300 km/h speedometer, and Recaro front seats.

All told, the modifications increased this 500E’s total price to about $300,000 in today’s money. The updates are documented and verified, according to Broad Arrow, and the sale includes service records, German registration documents, and the original bill of sale. It was imported to the United States in 2021. Broad Arrow expects this 500E to hammer between $150,000 and $180,000.

Jasen Delgado/Courtesy of Broad Arrow Auctions

Jasen Delgado/Courtesy of Broad Arrow Auctions

Jasen Delgado/Courtesy of Broad Arrow Auctions

Jasen Delgado/Courtesy of Broad Arrow Auctions

Jasen Delgado/Courtesy of Broad Arrow Auctions

Lot 138

Mercedes-Benz built a handful of 500E Limited models, so the super-sedan is highly sought-after, and the example in the Broad Arrow Patina Collective sale has a fascinating story. It’s a pre-production prototype presented at the 1993 edition of the Frankfurt Motor Show to gauge how customers and journalists would react to a more upmarket evolution of the 500E. It’s finished in Blue-Black Metallic, and the oh-so-1990s black and green interior doesn’t have a color code because configuration options hadn’t been finalized yet. Another fascinating detail is that this car has the newer-style hood and the older-style side cladding.

Mercedes-Benz finally sold this 500E to its first private owner in 1998. Originally registered in Germany, it then traveled to Japan (where it was involved in an accident) and Sweden before returning to its home country, and it was imported to the United States in 2021. Its odometer displays about 42,500 miles. Broad Arrow’s pre-auction estimate is set at between $100,000 and $150,000.

Jasen Delgado/Courtesy of Broad Arrow Auctions

Jasen Delgado/Courtesy of Broad Arrow Auctions

Jasen Delgado/Courtesy of Broad Arrow Auctions

Jasen Delgado/Courtesy of Broad Arrow Auctions

Jasen Delgado/Courtesy of Broad Arrow Auctions

Lot 136

Production of the S124 wagon ended in February 1996, so this 1995 E36 is one of the final examples built. It was ordered with a long list of equipment, including Sportline front seats, the cool rear-facing third-row jump seats, and a Sportline steering wheel, and it was delivered new in Japan. AMG then added a body kit, 17-inch Aero I Sport multi-piece wheels, and, of course, showed some love to the straight-six engine, boring it to 3.6 liters and upgrading the internals. Service records show that this wagon moved from Japan to Germany before disembarking in the United States in 2020.

Broad Arrow pegged the pre-auction estimate at between $50,000 and $55,000.

Stay up to speed with stories written by drivers, for drivers.
