{"id":6072,"date":"2026-04-20T18:46:15","date_gmt":"2026-04-20T18:46:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/6072\/"},"modified":"2026-04-20T18:46:15","modified_gmt":"2026-04-20T18:46:15","slug":"brazil-says-germany-to-contribute-700-million-euros-to-green-initiatives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/6072\/","title":{"rendered":"Brazil says Germany to contribute 700 million euros to green initiatives"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">BRASILIA, April 20 (Reuters) &#8211; Germany is going to contribute around 700 million euros ($824.74 million) to projects related to climate change \u200cand sustainable mobility in Brazil, Brazil&#8217;s state development bank \u200cBNDES said on Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who will conclude a two-day \u200bvisit to Germany on Tuesday, had first announced a tranche of 500 million euros from Germany to a climate fund managed by BNDES.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The fund aims to support studies and finance projects focused on mitigating climate \u200cchange, he said in \u2060a press conference with his German counterpart earlier in the day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The two countries also signed a second declaration \u2060of intent providing for another 200 million euro investment in mobility, according to the statement released by BNDES later.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The second partnership aims to finance \u200band implement \u200bsustainable transport solutions to support \u200bgreener and more efficient mobility \u200csystems, the bank said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Lula said Brazil was willing to discuss alternative energy sources with Germany and that he was &#8220;an unwavering advocate of biofuels&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The Brazilian president added that Germany could benefit from Brazil&#8217;s renewable\u2011energy expertise and that officials from both countries would work to implement the \u200cdecisions taken on Monday, without giving further \u200bdetails.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Biofuels can reduce greenhouse\u2011gas emissions while making \u200buse of existing fuel \u200binfrastructure.
