EXCLUSIVE: Berlin-based sales outfit Media Move has boarded The Unlucky, the sci-fi thriller set to star and be produced by Mortal Kombat actor Ludi Lin.<\/p>\n
Quentin Lee is aboard to direct and produce. Media Move will introduce the project to international buyers at next month\u2019s Cannes market.<\/p>\n

Co-written and directed by Lee, The Unlucky is a Canadian genre feature about an Asian Yale graduate student who falls for a captivating young woman and accepts an invitation to her family\u2019s Thanksgiving gathering\u2014only to find himself ensnared in an alienating con that spirals into unimaginable horror.<\/p>\n
Lin and Lee will produce under Lee\u2019s British Columbia-based banner, Margin Films. The screenplay is co-written by Dennis Escobedo (Last Summer of Nathan Lee) and Lee, based on Lee\u2019s original story. The sales deal was brokered by Jennifer Price, executive producer of The Unlucky. Start date has yet to be set.<\/p>\n
Lin, who plays Liu Kang in Warner Bros\u2019 Mortal Kombat movie franchise and previously starred in the Power Rangers franchise, recently appeared as a stand-up comic in Lee\u2019s upcoming third season of the docuseries Comedy InvAsian. One Hand Clapping, Lin\u2019s episode, will sneak preview in May at Laemmle\u2019s Royal.<\/p>\n
