\"\"AtkinsR\u00e9alis and Siemens Mobility have signed a co-development contract for the design and integration of the rail systems for TramCit\u00e9, the future tram network in the city of Qu\u00e9bec, one of the most significant public transport projects currently under development in Canada<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The contract covers the systems component of the project and will be implemented through the Connexion Capitale partnership, under the Progressive Design-Build delivery model, which enables the collaborative development of technical solutions prior to the start of the actual works. At this stage, the final technical solution, the implementation schedule, the costs and the performance parameters of the project will be defined.<\/p>\n

The Progressive Design-Build model allows for the phased development of the project, offering the opportunity to optimise technical solutions before the final cost is established and construction begins. This model is frequently used in complex infrastructure projects, as it reduces risks and facilitates collaboration between the client, designers and contractors.<\/p>\n

Integration of all railway systems<\/p>\n

As part of the project, AtkinsR\u00e9alis and Siemens Mobility will ensure the integration of railway systems, signalling, communications, electrification and the coordination of the implementation of the technologies required for the operation of the network. The partnership will also oversee the testing and commissioning of the system to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation, as well as long-term maintenance.<\/p>\n

The TramCit\u00e9 project is being developed by CDPQ Infra, the company also responsible for building Montr\u00e9al\u2019s REM automated network. The TramCit\u00e9 line will be built along the east-west axis of Qu\u00e9bec City and will be 19 km long, with 29 accessible stations and five interchanges with other modes of transport.<\/p>\n

The line will pass through the city\u2019s main areas, connecting districts such as Le Gendre, Sainte-Foy, Laval University, Saint-Roch and Charlesbourg, with the aim of improving connections between residential neighbourhoods, economic centres and key institutions.<\/p>\n

Commissioning is scheduled for 2033.<\/p>\n

TramCit\u00e9 is regarded as one of the most significant urban infrastructure projects in the recent history of Qu\u00e9bec City.<\/p>\n
