\"\"Siemens Mobility has reached another significant milestone for its Vectron locomotive platform following the construction of its 2,000th unit. The milestone locomotive was handed over to Austrian Federal Railways (\u00d6BB) at an event held on 23 July 2026 at the Siemens Mobility factory in M\u00fcnchen-Allach, Munich.<\/p>\n

With nearly 3,000 locomotives sold to over 115 customers across Europe and beyond, the Vectron has become one of the most successful and versatile electric locomotive platforms on the market. The model is approved for operation in 20 countries and can reach speeds of up to 230 km\/h in passenger services.<\/p>\n

Vectron: a solution for European corridors<\/p>\n

Launched in 2012, the Vectron platform is manufactured at the Siemens Mobility plant in Munich-Allach and was designed for cross-border operations on the European rail network. Its ability to operate on multiple power supply systems and the large number of national approvals have made the locomotive a solution used on the main international rail transport corridors.<\/p>\n

Vectron is available in several configurations, tailored to both freight and passenger services. In the version designed for passenger trains, the locomotive can travel at speeds of up to 230 km\/h, enabling its use on modernised conventional routes and on international connections.<\/p>\n

Siemens Mobility is continuing to develop the platform with the new digital Vectron X model, which introduces advanced connectivity features and software applications directly into the driver\u2019s cab.<\/p>\n

The new generation transforms the locomotive into an open digital platform and the driver\u2019s cab into a connected workspace. Via an integrated app store, operators can use solutions developed by Siemens Mobility or third-party suppliers.<\/p>\n

Features such as Remote Start, Vectron Eco Cruise and Trainplay, alongside locomotive condition monitoring and maintenance coordination, help to increase operational efficiency, improve rolling stock availability and advance predictive maintenance.<\/p>\n

Through the ongoing expansion of the Vectron platform<\/a>, Siemens Mobility aims to consolidate the locomotive\u2019s position as the standard solution for interoperable European rail transport.<\/p>\n
