\"\"\/Toyota<\/a> Motor, Volvo Group<\/a> and Daimler Truck<\/a> on Monday signed a binding agreement under which Toyota will join fuel cell technology<\/a> company, cellcentric<\/a>, as an equal partner and shareholder, according to an official press release.<\/p>\n

Under the agreement, each of the three shareholders will hold a one-third stake in cellcentric. The transaction is expected to be completed around the end of 2026 or the beginning of 2027.<\/p>\n

The agreement follows a non-binding agreement signed by the parties at the end of March this year. The collaboration aims to strengthen cellcentric\u2019s position as a leading developer and manufacturer of fuel cell systems for heavy-duty commercial applications.<\/p>\n

Upon completion, Toyota will become an equal partner alongside Volvo Group and Daimler Truck. The three companies plan to collaborate on equal terms to strengthen cellcentric’s technological capabilities, industrial scale and competitiveness in heavy-duty fuel cell technology.<\/p>\n

The partners also intend to work with industry associations and stakeholders across the hydrogen value chain to support the development of hydrogen supply and infrastructure and accelerate the wider hydrogen ecosystem<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The release added that cellcentric will continue to operate as an independent and autonomous company and serve customers across heavy-duty on-road and off-road transport. Its applications will also include coaches, stationary power generation, marine, rail and heavy off-highway equipment.<\/p>\n

While Volvo Group, Daimler Truck and Toyota will continue to compete independently across other areas of their respective businesses.<\/p>\n

Established as a joint venture between Daimler Truck AG<\/a> and Volvo Group, cellcentric is involved in the development, production and commercialisation of fuel cell systems for heavy-duty commercial vehicles and other applications with similar requirements.<\/p>\n
