Rolls-Royce has appointed a team of delivery partners to support the construction of its small modular reactors (SMRs) in the UK and the Czech Republic.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The group includes Mace Consult, Hochtief, Turner & Townsend and Unipart, and joins Virginia-based engineer Amentum, which was recently picked as the delivery partner leader.<\/p>\n

SMRs are compact, factory-built nuclear power plants that can be scaled to meet a variety of energy needs. Rolls-Royce SMR will first deploy the technology at Wylfa in Wales and Temel\u00edn in the Czech Republic.\u00a0<\/p>\n

At Wylfa, Rolls-Royce SMR has been chosen as preferred bidder by Great British Energy to build three units capable of generating up to 1.5GW of low-carbon electricity for the grid.<\/p>\n

\u201cAround the world, the pressing need to generate more low-carbon energy is more acute than ever,\u201d said Davendra Dabasia, chief executive of Mace Consult.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Hochtief chief executive Juan Santamar\u00eda described the project as \u201ca landmark for the global energy transition and a defining moment for Hochtief.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amentum, which has extensive experience in large-scale energy infrastructure, will oversee programme integration, construction management and governance.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Amentum Rolls-Royce SMR collaboration advances the deployment of this transformational technology, a critical enabler in strengthening energy security in the UK and continental Europe,\u201d Amentum chief executive John Heller said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The project is expected to create more than 8,000 long-term jobs in the UK. Loren Jones, senior vice president at Amentum, added: \u201cAmentum\u2019s deep nuclear expertise and robust supplier network are ideal to support growing energy requirements and drive long-term industrial growth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rolls-Royce SMR chief executive Chris Cholerton highlighted the synergy between the companies: \u201cWe have secured a world\u2011leading partner that is fully invested in our success. This partnership plays directly to our strengths \u2013 ours in advanced manufacturing and engineering, and theirs in programme and construction excellence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ruth Todd CBE, Rolls-Royce SMR\u2019s operations and supply chain director, said the collaboration would enhance the company\u2019s ability to deliver projects in multiple markets: \u201cIt ensures we are equipped to deliver our programmes in the UK, Czech Republic, in Sweden and globally with confidence, scale and robust delivery assurance.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Rolls-Royce SMR programme represents a new approach to nuclear power, offering scalable, modular plants that can meet rising global electricity demand while supporting the UK\u2019s net zero ambitions.<\/p>\n
