The new BMW Group plant in Debrecen has reached an important milestone. Just a few months after production began, the 50,000th vehicle rolled off the assembly line in the eastern Hungarian city. The ramp-up in production reflects the strong demand for BMW\u2019s \u201cNeue Klasse\u201d generation.<\/p>\n
As the BMW Group announced on Tuesday, the plant has seen rapidly growing capacity utilization since production began in the fall of 2025.<\/p>\n
The milestone vehicle\u2014a fiery red BMW iX3 50 xDrive\u2014was manufactured in accordance with the BMW iFACTORY production concept.<\/p>\n
This strategy places the core values of efficiency, digitalization, and sustainability at the heart of production.<\/p>\n

Hans-Peter Kemser, Managing Director of the BMW Group\u2019s Debrecen plant, emphasized the strategic importance of the Hungarian location. As a pilot production site for the \u201cNeue Klasse,\u201d the plant is playing an active role in shaping the future of the BMW Group\u2019s global production network.<\/p>\n
The \u201cNeue Klasse\u201d brings far-reaching innovations for the German automaker.<\/p>\n
According to the company, these innovations span nearly all areas\u2014from development and design to electric propulsion, the display and control concept, and even the actual factory planning.<\/p>\n

The all-electric BMW iX3 was launched in Europe in March 2026. Since then, demand has been steadily increasing.<\/p>\n
The number of orders is nearing the 100,000-vehicle mark.<\/p>\n
To respond flexibly to the high level of customer interest, the plant has expanded its capacity faster than originally planned. A second work shift was introduced as early as February 2026. In addition, preparations are already underway for a third shift, which is scheduled to begin in September of this year.<\/p>\n
Construction of the plant in Debrecen began in 2021. On the site, which spans more than 400 hectares, the BMW Group has invested over two billion euros in building state-of-the-art infrastructure. The facility includes its own press shop, a body shop, a paint shop, final assembly, and a battery assembly unit.<\/p>\n
Starting at the end of 2025, the Hungarian plant will manufacture exclusively all-electric vehicles. The BMW Group plant in Debrecen now employs over 5,000 people.<\/p>\n
