ALDI is eyeing up possible sites in Hartford for a new supermarket.<\/p>\n
Britain’s largest discount supermarket chain has confirmed it is looking to secure a site in the village.<\/p>\n
The plans are part of a wider expansion in Cheshire, which could also include Handforth and Widnes.<\/p>\n
It is seeking a freehold, leasehold, or long leasehold site in a prominent location in Hartford, with good visibility and access, and is encouraging landowners and agents to come forward with suitable opportunities.<\/p>\n
Existing Aldi stores in the area include Northwich, Winsford, Knutsford, Holmes Chapel, and Sandbach.<\/p>\n
A spokesman for the German supermarket chain said it is focused on bringing ‘high-quality, affordable food to more communities’, adding the Hartford plans will also create jobs in the area.<\/p>\n
Aldi is the UK’s highest-paying supermarket, where store assistants earn from \u00a313.50 an hour, rising further with length of service.<\/p>\n
Jonathan Neale, managing director of national real estate at Aldi UK, said: “We know how important it is for people to have access to affordable, high-quality food close to where they live, which is why we’re focused on identifying the communities which would benefit most from a new Aldi store.<\/p>\n
“Opening new stores in these areas means we can bring great value to more customers, while also creating jobs and offering industry-leading pay.”<\/p>\n
The potential Hartford store is part of Aldi’s wider UK expansion, with the supermarket investing more than \u00a3370 million in new stores this year as it works towards its long-term target of 1,500 locations nationwide.<\/p>\n
