DHL Group and LONGi Solar have announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening cooperation on renewable-energy deployment and lower-emission logistics innovation. The agreement, signed in Bonn, provides for the installation of LONGi’s distributed solar technologies at DHL facilities in Europe, along with expanded logistics support from the German group for LONGi’s solar and battery storage businesses.<\/p>\n
The memorandum focuses in particular on the deployment of LONGi’s Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) technology, based on high-efficiency back-contact technology. According to both companies, this technology is designed to maximize energy yield on large commercial rooftops while ensuring long-term operational reliability. The project comes as China’s solar industry seeks to curb the price war<\/a> weighing on its margins.<\/p>\n An existing logistics partnership expanded<\/p>\n The agreement builds on an already established commercial relationship between the two groups. DHL currently provides LONGi with services through its Express division, DHL Global Forwarding (DGF) Ocean Freight, and DGF Industrial Projects solutions, including factory-moving operations. Under the expanded partnership, DHL plans to broaden this support to match LONGi’s global growth and new business segments.<\/p>\n This expansion includes enhanced B2C logistics solutions, marketing-related fulfillment services, and tailored logistics for LONGi’s new battery energy storage system (BESS) portfolio. “Our collaboration with LONGi reflects how renewable-energy innovation and global logistics excellence can reinforce each other,” said Michael Wiedemann, President Energy Sector at DHL Customer Solutions & Innovation.<\/p>\n Six areas of cooperation identified<\/p>\n The memorandum of understanding defines six areas of collaboration between the two groups: deployment of BIPV and other advanced distributed solar technologies at DHL buildings and logistics infrastructure; co-development of solar-plus-storage solutions tailored for logistics applications; and joint exploration of renewable hydrogen and next-generation renewable-energy concepts. These are complemented by early-access and co-creation initiatives to pilot LONGi’s innovations within DHL’s global network, as well as close senior executive collaboration to evaluate progress and emerging opportunities.<\/p>\n Alex Li, General Manager Western Europe at LONGi, described the partnership as a platform for scaling integrated solar and storage technologies in complex commercial and industrial environments. Neither DHL Group nor LONGi disclosed a precise deployment timeline or financial figures associated with the agreement.
