In a brazen display of reckless driving, over 100 cars<\/a> completely shut down a Florida interstate to perform burnouts\u2014resulting in a massive law enforcement response and a high-speed chase that doubled the legal speed limit.<\/p>\n

During a recent broadcast, 10 Tampa Bay News<\/a> shared shocking dashcam<\/a> footage provided by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), giving the public a firsthand look at the chaos that unfolded on Interstate 75.<\/p>\n

The incident kicked off around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026. According to FHP arrest reports and traffic camera data, a highly coordinated group of drivers<\/a> managed to completely block all northbound lanes near Mile Marker 266.<\/p>\n

The 10 Tampa Bay broadcast detailed the exact location, noting, \u201cThis happened overnight in Thonotosassa near the East Fletcher Avenue intersection\u201d.<\/p>\n

With traffic ground to a dead halt behind the blockade, the participants turned the empty stretch of I-75 into a personal playground. \u201cFHP says there were more than 100 vehicles at that takeover doing burnouts and blocking the travel lanes,\u201d the anchor explained.<\/p>\n

However, the stunt didn\u2019t last long. Once troopers arrived on the scene with emergency lights and sirens activated, the massive crowd immediately fractured. \u201cInvestigators say as they pulled up, people started scrambling, getting in their vehicles and speeding away,\u201d the broadcast confirmed.<\/p>\n

While FHP allowed most of the dispersing crowd to leave the area without initiating a massive multi-car pursuit, one driver made a critical error by fleeing at an extreme velocity.<\/p>\n

A trooper locked onto a green BMW<\/a> that aggressively accelerated away from the pack. According to the news report, \u201cA trooper pursued one vehicle they say was reaching speeds of up to 140 miles per hour\u201d.<\/p>\n

Clocking in at roughly twice the posted speed limit, the BMW wildly weaved through traffic before finally bailing off the interstate onto Bruce B. Downs Boulevard. \u201cThey say the driver, Yulian Lugo, ran a red light before eventually stopping in a parking lot near Dona Michelle Drive in Tampa,\u201d the anchor detailed.<\/p>\n

Once cornered in the parking lot, all four occupants of the BMW were taken into custody without further incident.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old driver, Yulian Lugo, is now dealing with the severe legal consequences of Florida\u2019s strict street racing statutes. As the broadcast noted, Lugo was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail and is \u201cfacing two felony charges, including aggravated fleeing\u201d. External arrest reports confirm his second felony charge is for actively participating in a coordinated street takeover.<\/p>\n

His passengers didn\u2019t walk away unscathed, either. The three occupants\u2014identified as Mason Soloy, Julia Paxton, and Madison Rudeck\u2014were also arrested and charged with misdemeanors for \u201cknowingly riding in a street race\u201d.<\/p>\n
