More than 2000 delegates attended the SAP Now AI Tour Southeast Asia in Singapore, a clear indication that organizations in the region are well on their AI journey with many already looking towards SAP Autonomous Enterprise.<\/p>\n
Unveiled at SAP Saphire in May 2026, Autonomous Enterprise enhances the most critical business workflows, so that humans and AI work together to meet the accelerating demands of global business profitably, strategically and safely.<\/p>\n
In his keynote address, Liher Urbizu, President & Managing Director, SAP Southeast Asia shared that the region continues to see significant growth with an SAP survey revealing that 9 out of 10 customers believe agentic AI will transform businesses while 27% of tasks in businesses in the region now being supported by AI.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is not a single industry and there is not a single process where AI does not have an application,\u201d says Urbizu.<\/p>\n
While there are still is the need to ensure governance in AI deployment, Urbizu pointed out that SAP remains focused on generating business impact from the tech that it is bringing.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe’re not bringing tech for the sake of tech. We’re bringing tech because we want to generate business impact. Now, the AI opportunity may be immense, but value realization is not adding tech to existing ways of working. It is rethinking how work gets done. We connect AI, we connect data, we connect processes, and we connect people, and we redefine business processes to generate value for your organizations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
This is where Urbizu believes Autonomous Enterprise is comparatively the biggest leap forward that SAP has had in the history of the company.<\/p>\n
\u201cEssentially what we’re doing is we’re launching hundreds of agents across five different autonomous domains. CX, Human Capital Management, Spend, Finance, Supply Chain. You can imagine hundreds of agents operating your system all working in unison. And this is not about layering AI on top of existing business processes. This is reinventing business processes to make them more efficient,\u201d Urbizu explained.<\/p>\n
Five connected elements in Autonomous Enterprise<\/p>\n
According to Urbizu, there are five connected elements when it comes to realizing the full potential of Autonomous Enterprise. The first is SAP Joule, which will be the unified engagement layer.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is our single point of access to SAP. You no longer need to ask different applications. You have a single point of entry to the whole of SAP. There’s a lot of innovation that is coming with Joule,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
This includes Joule Studio 2.0, Joule Work, Joule Spaces, Joule for Consultants and Joule for Developers.<\/p>\n
The second element is the SAP Autonomous Group. Urbizu explained that these are the agents across finance, procurement, supply chain, HM, customer operations that are all working connected, and not as isolated functions operating independently.<\/p>\n
The third element is the industry intelligence, which Urbizu believes is SAP\u2019s secret sauce as the company has deep industry experience.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhether you’re in consumer goods, whether you’re in retail, whether you’re in telco, whether you’re in agriculture, whether you’re in operating airlines, whether you’re in transport or in finance, we’ve got what it takes to go deep in industry. And if you have specific industry use cases that you want to build, or AI innovations that apply specifically to your business, we can build that for you as well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Underpinning all is the AI foundation, which is the fourth element. The Business AI Platform is the intelligence layer that brings business context, trust data, governance and transparency all together so that AI agents can act confidently in the system, giving businesses real data while keeping humans in control.<\/p>\n
The final element is the agent-led transformation.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe need to move systems to the cloud faster at a lower cost rate. And so, we made a number of acquisitions to help customers through the business transformation. What we’re doing now is we’re applying AI to our transformation portfolio and we’re launching things like, for example, migration agents to make your migrations much easier,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
Businesses need integrating capabilities<\/p>\n
During his keynote, Urbizu also highlighted that as most organizations have multiple applications running, many would have multiple agents running across different applications. To deal with this, he said that SAP is opening its systems by principle and by design so that SAP agents can talk to non-SAP agents, and non-SAP agents can talk to SAP agents. He believes this will enable businesses to operate processes end-to-end, independent of the underlying applications.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur strength is that semantic layer and that context and that ability to read SAP data. And if you want to bring SAP and non-SAP data together, the Business AI Platform and the Business AI Cloud will definitely help,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Attesting to this is Dirk Paul Sibiet, Group Chief Information Officer at ComfortDelGro. The customer was on stage to share their journey with SAP. ComfortDelGro is a global, multi-modal company operating across 13 countries, three listed entities and around about 26,000 employees.<\/p>\n
According to Sibiet, one of the key developments done over the last couple of months is transforming ComfortDelGro\u2019s core set of functionalities by replacing a lot of the low-value calls to agents so that the operators can actually really spend more time and quality time in the value-added conversations with the customers especially around our point-to-point business.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur vision is that we are structured across three main pillars. One is public transport, private point-to-point transport and testing and certification businesses. And we want to be excelling in those three domains. And we are investing. We are building for the future by continuously enhancing our services across the three business units but at the same time also being ready for the future by adopting AI capabilities in our businesses both from robotics to autonomous vehicles to agentic AI operating in a more structured and automated manner. So that is for us is the one vision is a better mobility for the future bringing together our capabilities to serve the community more and in a better way,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Sibiet also pointed out that the company has been running on SAP for a very long time and needed to transform.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were running 16 business units that were more or less operating independently from each other from a data set perspective, from a process perspective, from a total operation perspective. So, when we embarked on the transformation to S4HANA and SuccessFactors covering both finance and the HR track, the key was for us to harmonize and standardize the processes, remove the legacy, remove the very human-driven activity and make that more automated activity but at the same time also do a consolidation and transformation of our data sets to enable our data to become mineable,\u201d Sibiet said.<\/p>\n
Sibeit also mentioned that traditionally every business unit had been doing it their own way but as ComfortDelPro grew to a more global company, the need for a standardized data model across the globe is becoming more important for enabling reporting, insights, as well as enabling the business to take decisions based on data and not just on capital.<\/p>\n
