Each Pagani reportedly uses 2,000 titanium bolts worth about $160,000.<\/p>\n That hardware alone costs more than a base Porsche 911 Carrera.<\/p>\n Custom etching and strict quality checks add far more than titanium alone.<\/p>\n The phrase \u201ca bucket of bolts\u201d usually means something that isn\u2019t worth much. When that bucket comes from a Pagani, though, it\u2019s worth more than a brand-new Porsche 911<\/a>, which starts at $135,500 in the States. Yes, the bolts for a single car actually cost more than the whole Porsche. You see, each Pagani uses around 2,000 of them at about \u00a360 ($80) a pop for a total of around \u00a3120,000 (about $161,300). He says each titanium fastener carries a Pagani logo etched just two microns, or 0.002 mm, which is 35 times thinner than human hair, into its surface. The video doesn\u2019t reveal whether \u00a360 \/$80 represents Pagani\u2019s actual cost, an average estimate, or the price of a replacement. Therefore, the \u00a3120,000 (about $161,300) total is simple multiplication rather than a publicly disclosed production expense. That said, it demonstrates the artistry and craftsmanship that go into every Pagani<\/a>. Other parts of the factory tour stand out as well.<\/p>\n
For example, the dipstick looks like jewelry, and that\u2019s in part because it sort of is. It\u2019s milled out of titanium and then anodized, but the care doesn\u2019t stop there. Pagani installs each oil dipstick to determine where it stops when tightened. It then goes back to be engraved so the logo sits perfectly straight before returning for final installation.<\/p>\n The steering wheel is similarly excessive. It begins as a 43 kg (95 lbs) block of aluminum and emerges from machining at just 1.7 kg (3.7 lbs). An 80-year-old craftsman then spends another eight hours polishing it by hand. It\u2019s not just the bits staring at you in the face that get this level of detail either. Everything from the wheel bearings to the control arms looks more like a sculpture than a car part.
