{"id":67766,"date":"2026-08-06T11:24:13","date_gmt":"2026-08-06T11:24:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/67766\/"},"modified":"2026-08-06T11:24:13","modified_gmt":"2026-08-06T11:24:13","slug":"arval-completes-acquisition-of-athlon-from-mercedes-benz-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/67766\/","title":{"rendered":"Arval completes acquisition of Athlon from Mercedes-Benz Group"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"astor-article-standfirst\">Following the acquisition, Arval&#8217;s combined fleet numbers 2.3 million vehicles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leasing firm Arval has completed the <a href=\"https:\/\/businessmotoring.co.uk\/arval-and-mercedes-benz-group-enter-negotiations-for-athlon-acquisition\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">acquisition of Athlon<\/a>, Mercedes-Benz Group\u2019s former leasing and fleet management subsidiary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following the acquisition, Arval\u2019s combined fleet numbers 2.3 million vehicles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of these, 400,000 have been added through the acquisition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Arval entered negotiations with Mercedes-Benz Group in December, and has since completed the employee representative consultation process and has received all required regulatory approvals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The expected return on invested capital (ROIC) will reach 18% in the third year after the acquisition, and Athlon is expected to contribute around \u20ac200m to the group\u2019s net income that year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Plans for the combined company will be outlined at a \u2018Deep Dive\u2019 in the first half of 2027.<\/p>\n<p>Enter the National Business Motoring Awards 2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"astor-newsletter-headline\">Nominations are now open \u2014 view the categories and enter before 31 July<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alain van Groenendael,\u00a0CEO at Arval, said: \u201cThis acquisition marks a major milestone in Arval\u2019s history.
