ERA 5X SUV is Volkswagen&#8217;s first model built on the CMP (China Main Platform).<br \/>\nThe ID. ERA 5X measures 4,560 mm in length and features the CEA architecture jointly developed by Volkswagen and Xpeng.<\/p>\n<p>SAIC Volkswagen, Volkswagen&#8217;s joint venture in China, has filed for the ID. ERA 5X sport utility vehicle (SUV), the first all-electric model in Volkswagen&#8217;s ID. ERA lineup.<\/p>\n<p>The compact SUV was included in the latest catalog of models set to be allowed for sale in China, released by China&#8217;s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Friday with 2 filing pages.<\/p>\n<p>The ID. ERA 5X measures 4,560 mm in length, 1,896 mm in width and 1,630 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,815 mm. It has a 5-seat layout.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/cnevpost.com\/2026080712263953\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/2026080712263953-480x270.jpg\" alt=\"SAIC VW files ID. ERA lineup\"  \/><\/p>\n<p><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The vehicle is powered by an electric motor supplied by United Automotive Electronic Systems, with a peak output of 155 kW and a top speed of 175 km\/h.<\/p>\n<p>It uses a lithium iron phosphate battery, with battery cells supplied by <a href=\"https:\/\/cnevpost.com\/catl\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CATL<\/a> (HKEX: 3750).<\/p>\n<p>Following the disclosure of the regulatory filing, SAIC Volkswagen shared additional official images of the ID. ERA 5X, offering a closer look at its exterior details.<\/p>\n<p>The ID. ERA 5X is Volkswagen&#8217;s first production model globally to be built on the CMP (China Main Platform) and equipped with the CEA (China Electronic Architecture).<\/p>\n<p>CEA is a new electrical and electronic architecture jointly developed by Volkswagen and Chinese electric vehicle maker <a href=\"https:\/\/cnevpost.com\/xpeng\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Xpeng<\/a> (NYSE: XPEV). FAW-Volkswagen&#8217;s ID. AURA T6, which entered the regulatory filing process <a href=\"https:\/\/cnevpost.com\/2026\/07\/11\/faw-vw-files-id-aura-t6\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">last month<\/a>, was the first model based on the CEA architecture.<\/p>\n<p>The filing for the ID. ERA 5X comes as SAIC Volkswagen is building momentum for the first sedan in the ID. ERA lineup.<\/p>\n<p>SAIC Volkswagen said earlier today that the ID. ERA 5S will begin pre-sales on August 11 and officially launch in the third quarter.<\/p>\n<p>The ID. ERA 5S is Volkswagen&#8217;s first sedan globally to feature urban NOA (navigation on autopilot) capabilities.<\/p>\n<p>SAIC Volkswagen&#8217;s ID. ERA lineup currently has only 1 model on sale, the ID.
