Volkswagen has teased the redesigned Atlas Cross Sport.<\/p>\n

Five-seat crossover debuts next week with a turbo engine.<\/p>\n

While there will be a sizable time gap between the new Audi Q7 and Q8<\/a>, Volkswagen isn\u2019t wasting anytime as they\u2019ve announced plans to introduce the redesigned Atlas Cross Sport on August 10. It debuts roughly four months after its seven-seat counterpart was introduced at the New York Auto Show.<\/p>\n

The automaker isn\u2019t saying much at this point, but they released a single teaser image of the midsize crossover. It shows an angular rear window and a pronounced spoiler.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s not much to go on, but the five-seater should follow in the footsteps of its larger counterpart. However, we can expect slightly sportier styling and a tad less practicality.<\/p>\n

The interior should take a major step forward as the larger Atlas<\/a> comes nicely equipped with heated and ventilated leatherette front seats, a heated steering wheel, and genuine wood trim. They\u2019re joined by a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.9-inch infotainment system, and a dual wireless smartphone charger.<\/p>\n

2027 VW Atlas<\/p>\n

Higher-end variants up the ante with illuminated exterior door handles and glowing Volkswagen logos. They also sport Varenna or Nappa leather upholstery, a 15-inch infotainment system, and a panoramic sunroof. Well-heeled Atlas buyers will also find heated and ventilated second-row seats, a 30-color ambient lighting system, and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system with a subwoofer.<\/p>\n

Putting equipment aside, we can expect the Atlas Cross Sport<\/a> to have a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 282 hp (210 kW \/ 286 PS) and 258 lb-ft (349 Nm) of torque. It should be connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission as well as a choice of front- or all-wheel drive. With the latter, we can expect a fuel economy rating of around 20 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 23 mpg combined.<\/p>\n
