The city e-bike features a Bosch mid-drive motor paired with a special front suspension setup.

The eWAY 6.1 from Superior is an e-bike that was designed specifically for use in the city. Visually, the bike—and specifically the fork—stands out a bit. It is not a classic suspension fork, but it does have suspension nonetheless—specifically, it is a monoshock suspension fork with just a single shock absorber. At 25 millimeters, the travel is nevertheless very limited. In the trekking segment, suspension travel is typically at least 60 millimeters. The eWAY 6.1 is nonetheless equipped with a suspension seatpost.

The bike comes with a Bosch mid-drive motor, though the Active Line Plus mid-drive motor is definitely not the most powerful option available. The torque is rated at up to 50 Nm; however, lower torque is likely less of an issue for a city e-bike than it would be for a mountain bike, for example. It uses a Bosch PowerTube battery with a capacity of 500 Wh. Superior has equipped the bike with a Shimano Nexus 7-speed hub gear system. Power is transmitted via a bicycle chain. The chain guard is quite striking and protects not only the rider’s clothing from dirt but also the chain—along its entire length and from both the top and bottom.

Unsurprisingly, the features are fully suited for everyday use; the 29.1-kilogram e-bike comes equipped with front and rear fenders, a MIK-system-compatible rack, Spanninga lights, and a bike stand. A frame lock from the manufacturer Axa is also included. The listed price is 3,399 euros, but the eWAY 6.1 is already available at lower prices in stores. E-bikes from Superior are available not only in Germany but also in many other countries, including across the EU.

I have been active as a journalist for over 10 years, most of it in the field of technology.
