The dealers, who were shown a prototype of the four-door Mustang, noted that the car was inspired by the Porsche Panamera in many ways.

The Mustang has been a two-door sports coupe since it first hit the roads in 1964, but now, according to a report by Ford Authority, things are about to change. At the meeting, Ford showed the dealers an early prototype of the four-door Mustang on stage during the event, offering them an idea of what could arrive at their dealerships in a few years.

Some of the people present at the meeting said that the size of the four-door Mustang was very similar to the Porsche Panamera. The vehicle’s design also reportedly matched the Panamera in some respects. Is Ford taking design inspiration from Porsche?

Ford did not reveal what the four-door Mustang would be called, but based on information from an earlier dealer meeting, the vehicle has reportedly been referred to as the Mach 4. In February 2025, Ford filed a trademark for the same term, though it has not been confirmed as the production name.

Ford told dealers that the new Mustang will accelerate from a standstill to 60 mph in under four seconds, is expected to start at under $40,000, and will offer more rear-seat space than the Panamera.

However, it will take a while before the four-door Mustang hits the road since the report states the vehicle won’t enter production until at least 2028.

Small SUV Worth $25,000

Dealers were also notified about a small SUV that will be offered at a starting price of $25,000. Road & Track reported that dealers saw “mock-ups” of a compact SUV priced competitively. It will be available in gas and hybrid forms and will go on sale in 2029.

Photos of the prototype showed a wide and boxy design of the vehicle, and one person reported it looking like the first-generation Ford Escape.

However, the design has not been approved for production, and neither has the vehicle been assigned a name yet, so it would be too early to confirm its arrival. Ford didn’t disclose the vehicle’s dimensions, but it may be similar in size to the EcoSport or Escape.

Reports about the Ford Mustang receiving two additional doors have been doing the rounds, and now, a meeting…

[21181
25916,31557,8406
post-70422","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-porsche","tag-ford","tag-ford-mustang","tag-porsche
["GET
