Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has created a new modular concept for its California camper.<\/p>\n

Made in collaboration with partner Stuff Bubble, the van has been fitted out with a fully inflatable kitchen and a flexible bed system designed to make long-distance travel easier and more comfortable.<\/p>\n

Volkswagen says that unlike a traditional camper conversion, the modules can be installed by a single person and removed when not in use. When not needed, they can then be stored elsewhere, freeing up space inside the van itself.<\/p>\n

The inflatable kitchen integrates into the van\u2019s existing luggage shelf mounting system and uses an integrated closed water circuit to provide a full cooking solution while weighing just less than 10kg. Plus, because the system is modular, it can be removed and used outside.<\/p>\n

The flexible bed provides a large sleeping area which can be configured either as a double or a single. However, even when in place, there\u2019s still enough space for people to cook and sit. With a pop-up roof, the California can still sleep up to four people.<\/p>\n

Both the kitchen and bed can be removed entirely, rather than having to be permanently fixed inside the van itself.<\/p>\n

Volkswagen has also implemented the system into its Multivan, with a new split bed system and a full kitchen included in the more passenger-friendly model.<\/p>\n
