Aperol and Campari may have taken centre stage in the past, but there’s a whole world that goes beyond your typical spritz, and Berlin is home to plenty of options. We asked our Instagram audience for their favourite spots and got some great recommendations to add onto our list, and so here you have it: a comprehensive guide, picked largely by you, to the best bubbles in the city.

Your Top Three:

1. Orangerie Neukölln

Photo: Orangerie Neukölln

This was by far our Instagram audience’s favourite. Perched on the edge of one of Berlin’s most elegant parks, Orangerie offers seven spritzes, including a classic Venetian version garnished with an olive. For something more unique, opt for their bright and cheery Herzlich spritz, a classic Campari spritz topped up with tropical, citrusy juices. The freilich spritz is also a great choice if you prefer a refreshing alkoholfrei option.

Orangerie Neukölln, Schierker Str. 8, Neukölln, details

2. Jane and the Jam

Photo courtesy of Jane and the Jam

Cocktail and aperitivo bar Jane and the Jam have a dedicated spritz club on Sunday, so you’d better believe they have some creative spritzes on the menu. They’ve got all the classics like limoncello, Campari and Aperol, but if you’re ready to spice things up, give their jalapeño rosé spritz a try!

Jane and the Jam, Brunnenstraße 27, Mitte, details

3. Their no-frills spritz menu makes the best traditional spritzes, from a classic Venetian with vermouth to a spritz Bresciano, which uses white wine a sparkling water instead of prosecco. There are plenty of delicious Italian specialties to snack on while you’re enjoying your drink as well!

Bar Milano, Brunnenstraße11, Mitte, details

Honourable Mention

Theke, ORA and Michelberger

If you’re a spritz fan and haven’t made it to one of these three spots yet, they should go to the top of your list. All three feature spritzes made with locally made liqueur form the MXPSM (Michelberger X Preussische Spirituosen Manufaktur) distillery in Wedding. You can taste the whole range of liqueurs at the Michelberger Hotel’s bar: lavender tonic, aperitivo tonic, blood orange spritz, rose spritz and the more elevated golden Spritz made with Danziger Goldwasser and finished with champagne Lucien Dagonet NV. Theke and ORA have rose, blood orange and a quince spritzes available.

Michelberger Hotel, Warschauer Straße 39/40, Friedrichshain, details

Theke, Seestraße 13, Wedding, details

ORA, Oranienplatz 14, Kreuzberg, details

Barbaro

Barbaro is an Italian apertivo bar, so you can expect the classics done right. Sunday BBQs in their restaurant, a huge patio with occasional campfires, even DJ sets on Sunday night make having a spritz on MARS an event in and of itself. And the drinks themselves? On the menu is a spritz made with local bitters producers Abyme who provide the tangy herbal, floral bitter for for their Ambiq spritzes, which we can absolutely recommend.

MARS at silent green, Gerichtstraße 35, Wedding, details

Treppe

Right down the newly renovated steps to Tempelhofer Feld is a beer garden that also serves some delicious spritzes.
