Spy photographers have snapped the facelifted CLE 53 Convertible.<\/p>\n Drop top gains star-infused lights, an updated face, and a new diffuser.<\/p>\n Could have an upgraded engine producing an extra 30 lb-ft of torque.<\/p>\n Spy photographers have caught the facelifted Mercedes CLE on numerous occasions, but most of the attention has focused on the new V8-powered variants. We\u2019re, of course, talking about the CLE 63 as well as the ultra-exclusive CLE 63 Mythos<\/a>.<\/p>\n However, they\u2019re just the cr\u00e8me of the crop and will be accompanied by more mainstream versions. They\u2019ve become a staple of the modern Mercedes<\/a>, much to the chagrin of consumers with modesty and taste.<\/p>\n Additional details are hard to make out, but the model is likely equipped with a revised grille and a new front bumper. We also wouldn\u2019t be surprised to find updated wheels and a revamped color palette.<\/p>\n SHProshots<\/p>\n Interestingly, the prototype doesn\u2019t appear to have the prominent front fender vents that are found on the current model. While it\u2019s possible they\u2019re hidden by camouflage, the fenders appear smooth. This could mean the design of the 53 is being toned down as the lineup is finally getting a \u2018proper,\u2019 V8-powered variant.<\/p>\n The modest updates continue out back as the model has been equipped with starry taillights. They\u2019re accompanied by a familiar four-tailpipe exhaust system as well as a revamped diffuser that only has two fins instead of the previous four.<\/p>\n
SHProshots<\/p>\n Spy photographers didn\u2019t get a good look inside, but the cabin appears to largely carryover. However, we can reportedly expect an updated steering wheel with physical controls.<\/p>\n While the current car has a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six developing 443 hp (330 kW \/ 449 PS) and 413 lb-ft (559 Nm) of torque, the facelifted variant could have an upgraded engine. The \u201cfurther developed\u201d version was recently introduced on the GLC 53<\/a>, where it produces 443 hp (330 kW \/ 449 PS) and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque.
