by Brad Anderson<\/a><\/p>\n 2 hours ago<\/p>\n A BMW<\/a> 3-Series has been converted into a rough Mustang tribute.<\/p>\n Up front is a custom grille, bumper, and a truly bizarre-looking hood.<\/p>\n The rear includes Mustang-inspired taillights and a subtle lip spoiler.<\/p>\n Of all the BMW<\/a> 3-Series generations built over the past five decades, the E46 has arguably aged the most gracefully. Penned largely by Chris Bangle, it has those perfect three-box sedan proportions, which is exactly why modifying one has always been such a thankless task. The owner of this E46 reached anyway. What came out the other end is spectacular, just not the flavor of spectacular you\u2019d hope for.<\/p>\n This weird 318Ci has appeared for sale in the Netherlands and is trying to do its best impression of a Ford Mustang<\/a>, but it clearly hasn\u2019t worked. This is far from the first Mustang replica<\/a> we\u2019ve seen, but it\u2019s almost certainly one of the crudest we\u2019ve come across.<\/p>\n Read: These Guys Turned A Hyundai Accent Into A 1969 Ford Mustang Replica<\/a><\/p>\n The front is perhaps the weirdest part. It really doesn\u2019t look much like Ford\u2019s pony car, although the circular headlights and the large central grille show that it is at least trying, albeit not very successfully. The strangest part is the center part of the hood, which extends out above the grille.<\/p>\n Look at this 3-Series<\/a> from the side, and you\u2019ll no doubt notice the distinctive front and rear fenders, which look just as out of place as the hood. There\u2019s also a silver stripe running across the base of the doors. As for the rear, well, it too is an unmitigated disaster, sporting custom Mustang-inspired taillights, each consisting of three diagonal slashes.<\/p>\n Autoscout<\/p>\n Although a previous owner has obviously spent some time tweaking the car\u2019s exterior, they haven\u2019t made any changes to the cabin, which is kind of a relief. This means the original E46 steering wheel has been retained, as has the excellent gauge cluster and the all-important shifter for the five-speed manual transmission.<\/p>\n This Frankenstein BMW<\/a> is up for sale through AutoScout and has 235,019 km (146,034 miles) under its belt, so it\u2019s not exactly factory-fresh. Despite the high mileage and the dodgy bodywork, it has an asking price of \u20ac6,850 ($7,890), which sounds rather exorbitant.
