What happened to it?

Ordering an expensive appliance for delivery comes with one basic expectation. Whatever is inside the box should be the thing you actually paid for.

A damaged or heavily taped package might make someone suspicious, but there can also be an innocent explanation. Boxes get damaged during shipping, and sometimes they have to be resealed before reaching the customer.

Finding a completely different item inside is much harder to brush off. TikTok creator Shelen (@shelennnnnn) says that is exactly what happened after she ordered a Dyson from Boots and had it delivered through DHL.

Then she noticed something was off

Shelen says her first concern came from the tracking information. She received a DHL notification saying her order had arrived, but she says there was no package waiting for her.

When she checked the tracking link, Shelen says it showed that the parcel was actually at the depot. She then contacted Boots about the order and believes the retailer followed up with DHL because the package was delivered afterward.

However, it did not arrive directly in Shelen’s hands. She says the parcel was delivered to her neighbor, and when she eventually got it, she noticed that the box had been heavily taped. “I think that’s odd,” she says. Still, Shelen initially considered a less alarming explanation. “Sometimes these boxes break. They get re-bandaged up.” That changed when she opened it.

Shelen claims the Dyson she ordered was nowhere inside the package. Instead, she found what she describes as a “dusty” air-conditioning unit or fan. “Who the flip at DHL opened up my Dyson package, took out my Dyson and put this sh*t in there?” she asks.

Shelen immediately directs her frustration toward DHL and questions how someone could have another appliance ready to replace the Dyson. Her caption makes her feelings equally clear: “I CURSE YOU THIEF.” She also says she bought the Dyson because she was struggling with the heat and wanted the missing product returned. “Get me my Dyson now, DHL,” she says.

The video itself does not establish what happened to the Dyson or when the alleged swap took place. It also does not show evidence identifying the person responsible. While Shelen suspects someone involved with DHL, her account alone does not establish that a DHL employee removed the product.

Shelen is not the only customer to report opening a delivery and finding the expected product missing. One Taylor Swift fan received an empty package instead of four signed CDs after an order that involved DHL and USPS.

Viewers had their own theories. Several immediately focused on the fact that the package had been left with Shelen’s neighbor. “Plot twist; your neighbour isn’t sweating this summer,” one person joked. “Ur neighbour has a new fan,” another wrote.

Others urged Shelen to pursue the missing order rather than simply accept the loss. Customers dealing with expensive missing deliveries can face another problem when the carrier says the package was already delivered. “You should definitely do something because dysons are hella expensive,” one commenter said. Another asked, “Tell me they’re sending you a new one.”

One viewer claimed they had experienced something similar, writing, “This happened to my Sony Headphones, also with DHL.” That comment, like Shelen’s allegations, has not been independently verified.

For now, the biggest question remains unanswered. Shelen says she ordered a Dyson, but by the time she opened the delivered package, something entirely different was allegedly waiting inside.

Have a tip we should know? [email protected]

Ordering an expensive appliance for delivery comes with one basic expectation.
